What's the cost to have all the sky sports channels? Is it the £26 + £27.50?

Same as it is now (£27.50 for all the sports channels, £22 for the Base package). Sky don't appear to have said what they're doing with HD. Currently you need the top tier entertainment pack, and a further sub on Sky Sports.

I'd get it if I didn't have to pony up the 22 wraprobats for the base package.

That makes sense now. I've never understood why I keep reading that sky sports costs £49.50 a month when it appears to be £27.50 but they are including the TV Base package in the price.

Seems like a bad deal to me.

Previously (I assume) you could buy the core channels and get a good smattering of the sports. (e.g. Football, Cricket and Golf) and events.

Now under the guise of "get what you want" you have to get 3 channels. Most of which will be fluff to pad the sport out to a full channel rather than the stuff you actually want to see. (Was it OnDigital that spent stupid money on like 4th division nonsense thinking people wanted all the football all the time?)

:fp:

Might've been interested if you could just subscribe to the sports, but not with this bullshit as well. £40 a month for the most basic sports package is still a rip-off.

I don't know if Sky themselves let you purchase the sports channels (1 to 5 and Formula 1) individually any more - I know they did in the 90s (pay for Sky Sports 1 and they'd throw in Sky Sports 3).

This package works out no different than it does today at £27.50. Now however if you only give a gooseberry fool about the Premier League it will cost you £18, and then you can dump it in summer. It would save you about £150 a year.

I only have sky sports for NFL and Rugby so this is a pretty decent deal for me, means I dont have to pay for the 4 sports that have their own channels.

Paying for Sky is a mug's game. I'd rather spend my time playing Zelda but never actually completing it until I think I'm going to die of old age. That's money smart.

I get the daily passes for the on average two sundays a month i want to watch the F1, and even doing that still works out cheaper than this, 2x £6.99 < £18, with the extra races working out about even with the few quid per month saving offsetting it

What isn't clear is if Arena and Action are seperate or 1 package.

Virgin has lumped them together:

I've always been a pretty keen sports fan, but for the life of my can never understand why people lay down the amount of money they do for things like Sky. Especially in the modern age when consumers are getting used to services Netflix, Spotify etc. which offer a huge amount of content for a fee that is tiny in comparison.

The other thing that I always found particularly egregious about the Sky model was that you are paying a giant sum of money for access to content - and then still have to sit through shed loads of adverts. How much strawberry floating money do they need!?

Can I sack off cricket from my subscription?

You can, but there's only 4 price points for either 6 or 7 Channel packages (Premier League, Football, F1, Cricket, Golf, Arena and Action). So you'd have to dump 3 channels just to save yourself £1.50 a month.

This deal basically only works out of you want 1 or 2 sports channels. The £26 option is terrible value next to the complete package.

I wouldn't even consider paying for a football package in this day an age until they get rid of the bullshit 3pm blackout rule.

According to Pocket Lint there will be no price changes on NowTV, you'll have to take the whole lot. However they are now throwing in Mix.
