If now tv allows me to pay for the odd sport I watch and show I watch them I will use that. Seems to be their aim.

I'd say Sky's coverage of sport is worse than Sky's in everything but Football. (At least in terms of the actual show, not volume and quantity)

Yeah, I found that a bit odd, too. I'm quite happy to pay for Sky Arts 1 & 2 HD, Sky Atlantic HD, etc as they offer the kind of programmes I won't find on the BBC or other terrestrial channels - Game of Thrones, tons of great behind-the-scenes film and music documentaries, concerts and some great comedy (just watched Mid Morning Matters with Alan Partridge and Bug, for instance) etc. Looks like they have a great schedule of future programming in the pipeline, too. I watch more Sky than terrestrial TV since I became a Sky subscriber. I actually find the BBC a bit dull in comparison, tbh. :shifty:

Sky have also misjudged Rupert Murdoch being a dick.

Really? You can get a month's Sky sub for the cost of one ticket to see a Premier League game. Don't tell them, but I'd pay way more for Premier League coverage if they upped the prices. I get ESPN too.

Since fibre-optic became widespread, I don't see the point of Sky Sports. The only problem with streaming matches used to be it cutting out due to shitty ADSL lines. Now I can watch it very easily on my PC. TV is more convenient than finding a stream/changing streams mid-match etc. but the cost (£30-40?) is exorbitant.

I dunno, these days £40 is the sort of money I don't even think about spending any more. I paid £1.69 for a 500ml bottle of Coke the other day. Now that is exorbitant!

So, so sick of the idea that everyone must like the Olympics, everyone wanted Team GB to do so well and apparently it was so great for the country.

The olympics were brilliant and I genuinely believe they have lifted the spirits of the British public. I actually think that in a few months analysts will point to the Olympic "feel good factor" as the reason we're out of recession.

2 weeks ago a lot (maybe even the majority) of people thought that. Then London put on a fantastic Olympic Games, the BBC produced immense coverage and Team GB were amazing.

It converted me to liking the Olympics and I normally hate it.

Didn't you know you're not allowed to mention premier league footballers in the media from now on without referencing their shameful "off-pitch" lifestyles and poor/arrogant/not humble like the olympians attitude?
