Cancelled Sky as well.

They offered to come down on price to £15 a month. I said no thanks, unless you can make it £6.99.

They could not. I have released myself from their shackles.

On a 24 delay, in their entirety, via on-demand. So for the Superbowl you would need to watch it on Channel 4.

That's good, I don't really watch them live so that'd be cool. Do you feel it's worth the money?

I've been a Sky subscriber for like 20 years now but I'm moving home soon and the new place doesn't allow Sky dishes so I'm going to have to move to Virgin. Virgin's TV, phone and broadband package is much cheaper than the equivalent Sky bundle plus that gives you 152mb broadband.

Downside is no Sky Atlantic and not sure the TIVO box is better than the latest 2TB built in Wi-Fi Sky'S box I have.

Anyone moved from Sky to Virgin that can let me know how the found the switch on the TV side?

I had the Tivo box once, it was just so slow and clunky. Maybe it's been updated in the 12-18 months or so since I had one, though my mate who's got one really can't stand it over the last 12 months either. Seems to get unresponsive quite a bit, with button presses not seeming to register, then suddenly the last 3 or 4 presses all kick in at once.

The prediction also seemed to think that because you liked Star Trek then you will want it to record Miss Marple for you.
Whilst that's a crossover I'd like to see, the two sadly share nothing in common.

The tivo box is class. My dad has one, it's fast, responsive and has a very user friendly interface. Laga you're a shameless whore for your company

Funny. You may as well be describing the hunk of gooseberry fool I have from Sky!!!!!

They have messed up the functionality of the backup button.

Plus all this suggestions crap is a waste of computing power. Who seriously watches so much telly that they need some stupid algorithm to tell them what to watch next.

Yeah by Sky box was a heap of gooseberry fool too, used to just stop turning on too and I would have to unplug it for a bit and replugin and every few weeks force a re-download of the firmware.

awful things.

Let me guess.. The 'fix' would be to hand over 100+ quid.

It riles me no end that you are expected to pay for the hardware - and have to abide by the terms of a warranty on it - for Sky! It is useless without a subscription (worse than freeview!!!!) so why should we as customers have to pay for the 'asset'. Just let me pay you for the service and you fix it when it's not working - as is the case in most service industries.

I don't particularly like the Tivo box either, it is a bit slow and clunky and the menus aren't that intuitive, it used to be a lot worse than it is now but it's still not great.

Sf I switched from Sky to Virgin TV a year or so ago, I had the best TV package so didn't really miss anything other than Sky Skports and Atlantic which I just supplemented with my parents Sky Go. I would still be on that package but although it started off reasonable, 2 price rises in about 3 months quickly pissed me off so I cancelled sharpish. They didn't seem particular fussed about giving me a better deal when I phoned up to cancel.

I had a lot of problems with Virgin working properly in the early days as well.

Overall I've not been especially happy with the service and they don't seem to particularly care.

Bingo, its nuts that you have to have the box to access their service, but that is the customers device and they have buy a new one etc. I'm paying to access the service I wouldn't have to buy the equipment too.

If you want to get a newer box because it is newer then sure charge people, but if a new one is needed before the old one has died/is dying they should replace it.

Thanks. Not good to hear. Sky have always been fairly good with me on the Customer Service side. Their online account makes it easy to manage. My reservations on moving to Virgin on the TV side are growing more and more.

There are some really good current offers that will give me a great price for the first 12 months & even the price after that for the full TV package with HD & Sky Sports is cheaper than my current equivelant Sky Package. Price is not my worry but more the quality of TIVO & the Virgin TV experience as Sky is very user friendly, quick & has great HD quality.

Man spends over 90 minutes trying to cancel his Sky subscription online. Bloody hilarious!

Yeah, was reading that. Reflects my attempts to cancel my broadband, except I managed to in the end. It took a long time, though.

If you don't really mind either way though it seems like a great way to get a discount out of them.

I'm ringing them on Saturday. Hoping for 75% off, £100 cashback, a free LG TV, a new box...there's jack gooseberry fool on during the Summer apart from Wimbledon so I have nothing to lose. They've basically got 3 months to give me something that at least halves my £101 monthly bill (increasing to £105 shortly). They're taking the piss out of their most loyal customers who just sit idly by and take it up the arse every year. Well sorry Sky but I'm glueing my arse shut.
