If you're going to buy it to hack extra ROMs in anyway then why not save a few quid and get a Raspberry Pi, which would involve the same process of using a PC, cost less and give you more flexibility, power and storage capacity? You could get a snes-style usb controller and probably even a snes-like shell case if that matters so much.

£80 does seem a lot for technology from 1990 and games they can bung on for free.
This has way less power than the new Kindle Fire 7 for instance and Amazon manages to shove those out for £50.

I really don't need this thing. I have a proper SNES with 30+ games, and about 30 SNES games on Wii Virtual Console.

But I'll still get it - and I managed to sneak in a pre-order at Amazon :-)

Can I use any old USB mains adapter... Or will I risk frying the thing.

Just realised this is the first time since their original releases that Yoshi's Island and Star Fox will be legitimately available since none of the Super FX SNES games were on the VC.

I know but building hardware that can run snes games isn't exactly a challenge and will be cheap as chips.

How much are the games worth, about 2 quid each? That's £42 right there. Add the controller, hardware, an unreleased game...it's got to be worth at least £60.

Apparently it was something to do with legal issues with the Super FX chip when Argonaut (who created it and held the rights) went into liquidation, rather than Nintendo just not releasing them because.
