Not digging at you guys, but this is an outcome of the problem caused by Nintendo's approach to selling stuff nowdays. People know that they won't manufacture enough of x product to meet demand, and so many folk buy as many as they can to then sell at a profit. Mini consoles, amiibo, special editions... they are all affected by this and Nintendo doesn't really seem fussed about it at all.

At this point I'd be quite happy if it sells for the amount my GF is paying for it - I've never been good at selling things for profit, nor do I really want to be.

And Jawa - dig away. It's not a good thing to do at all. I hate the idea of trying to scalp a product and am, as Poser says, a massive hypocrite. The issue is down to Nintendo under-manufacturing, but it's something that they've always done. Making sure there's not enough to go around increases the prestige of the product and ensures that more people will be clamouring to buy it if they do a second wave.

Completely reasonable post as ever, mate. I'm not aiming to defend my actions at all.

Dunno really. I've literally never sold anything on eBay. I'm actually away when they are being delivered, so I'll see what the market looks like when I get back and probably aim a bit lower than the average, just to make sure they sell. I do have the option of returning the one to Tesco in person (where, let's face it, a staff member will keep it and stick it on ebay themselves).

I don't have a problem with it. The blame is at Nintendo's door. The difference between ticket touts and what is happening here with Nintendo is that there is always going to be limited space in a venue, limited dates a person can perform. In many cases, such as sporting events, it's a one and done. With an item such as this, there is no excuse. Nintendo or whoever could easily produce this thing past Christmas if they wanted to.

The concept of buying a product to then sell at a higher price is, you know, kind of how the world works.

If you want to work your arse off for 8 hours for £100, then good luck to you. I'll be over here with my feet up having a beer in the sun (metaphorically speaking).

To be fair my profiteering will be going towards helping me fund a Switch so in someways I am helping Nintendo

This is a direct result of Nintendo's change in business planning of a few years back; they wanted to create only enough product that they could immediately sell i.e. no "extra" stock would be made. Storage costs are hugely reduced and retailers will rarely return stock. It's slick and the re-seller market hurts customers more than it does Nintendo.

In the shorter term it boosts the desire for Nintendo products, encourages pre-orders and drives profitability. Longer term I'm not so sure; personally it has reduced my desire to (try and) buy Nintendo products and I tend to put that money towards PlayStation purchases instead.

Yes :shifty:

Nowt wrong with that. In fact mines most likely getting sold on as at the time of pre-ordering I had no desire to purchase a Switch until very late in the year but I didn't hold out that long :shifty:

Anything extra made can offset the cost of the Switch and games etc.

I'm legitimately trying to get a 2nd for my nephew. My brother didn't realise preorders would sell out ( :fp: )

So if anyone wants to sell a pre-order for £100, let me know by PM.

Cheers!

He offered me £90 a few days ago.

Yeah but that was £90 plus a blowey.

Given that I've never given a blowey before, it can't be worth more than £10.

GameSeek UK are advertising these as £50 during their 'Cyclonic Deals'

I bet you've got more chance of securing a pre-order with Nintendo than you have at their site for that price!
