You are quite right, I'm more referring to the fact that the conservatives are largely terrible and they've been trying to push this through for years. People put them in power, despite them being a large detriment to the people of this country. I'm not saying they don't do anything good, but they have done some absolute shocking things since labour got ejected.

I am no fan of the Conservative party but Labour were just as bad for this sort of gooseberry fool.

Labour weren't really much better in regards to privacy issues when they were in power though. Remember ID Cards? Where the government required you to give them a digital scan of your face, your fingerprints, an Iris scan....

That got way more press coverage though (Well, it actually got press coverage) and was front page news on many occasions.

So basically they could add a load of fake evidence against someone and that person can't legally challenge it.

Brilliant.

I don't think they can outright make up fake evidence, but they can hide the truth on how they obtained it and make up any old story about how they got an anonymous tip.

Worryingly with Corbyn it is unlikely. He just doesn't have the charisma etc. to get people on side.

They're all for it to varying degrees, or simply not competent enough to challenge it. This is down the list of priorities.

Being tough on law and order has always played well and the internet is both a complex subject & not a particularly interesting one at the same time.

The amount of trust you've got to put into organisations and people that now aren't the government is ridiculous. It's not the government watching you, it's everyone else acting on behalf of the government. I was quite happy MI5 hacking my phone, not so much Joe Blogs at the Food Standards Agency. I'm being facetious but you get the point.

Labour are a pathetic opposition under Corbyn and won't do anything.

The Lib Dems are completely neutered thanks to Clegg.

The SNP are probably the closest thing we have to an opposition at the moment, but they don't have the numbers to be any more than a mild irritant to the Tories.

I think the Tories will easily win in 2020. Hopefully that Labour defeat will force Corbyn to go and Labour can get somebody in that's capable of fighting this sort of bullshit. Although that will probably mean a "New" Labour type that actually likes the idea of databases.

Labour voted this through by quite a majority. Even Corbyn just abstained rather than vote against it. He just likes to shout that Labour had the bill amended, then afterwards doesn't even bother voting on it one way or another.

MPs shouldn't be allowed to not vote on any Parliamentary vote. They should be absolutely forced to vote on every single thing that goes through parliament with no option to abstain. It's their one strawberry floating job after all.
