Tell me about it, I was driving home on Friday night and one of the main dual carriage ways coming out of Belfast was not gritted at all. The inner lane was actually completely covered over and could not be used without serious danger.

I suppose I can't blame the council really. It rarely snows properly here so if I had to make budget cuts then road gritting seems a much easier place to put the axe than community care and such.

That's because grit does strawberry float all when there is lots of snow. In fact it makes it worse as you end up with slush deposits which freeze.

Most of the street has been out clearing the road, so me and the neighbour went out to grit it. Dat community spirit.

I've put loads of grit on my driveway, so hopefully I can get out tomorrow.

There's about 3-5cm of snow here in Derbyshire but it stopped snowing ages ago and is gradually melting now.
