Better a fracture than snapped ligaments. Look on the bright side. Could be a lot worse.

Yeah... He could have hopping away as a serial killer is running after him, with his manical smile and glistening knife getting closer and closer... Then it couldn't get any worse than that!

Thanks for helping me put this in perspective. Best case scenario, I can be out of this cast and in a walkable fibreglass cast in a week and a half if I keep my ankle elevated and rested. Definitely watching what I'm eating and I'll be keeping away from alcohol..

I've been off my feet for nearly 3 months now because of a burn on my leg and foot. You're going to find being immobile and inactive for a while quite a shock. The best thing you can do is try to keep your mind active by doing something that you've previously ignored. I had never read a book in my life before January, but now I quite enjoy getting stuck in. Have your friends round, cook them dinner etc. While they are there you can pretend nothing is wrong and enjoy each other's company. Don't be shy taking your painkillers, you'll need them. When you do go out, try to go places you've never been before, try new restaurants etc. The more you keep your mind active, the easier you'll find recovery.

Man up. I've done:
Collar Bone
Right Wrist
Two Fingers on my right hand (at the same time)
Left Big Toe
Left Metatarsal
Right Metatarsal
Two Ribs

You'll be back on your feet way before the doctors say you can be.

Just be careful when you get back to being around women as you might start insinuating that they're pregnant :slol:

Second day off for the summer holidays in 93 I broke both my ankles at once on a weird swival board/skateboard thing on which my feet were secured to.

That summer was mostly Sega.

I don't really remember to be honest, its so long ago, I actually only remember being winded at the same time when I fell, thats about all.

I'm in the same boat as FE, I've broken alot of stuff back when I went outside. As I said, my defining memory is spending the whole summer playing lots of sega megadrive games, because I couldn't go out, mates would come round to mine and lend me their games while they went out and did stuff. Wasn't the worst summer ever, but wasn't the best.

Unlucky bud.

When I was 12 I destroyed my ankle in three places. The X-rays were disgusting. Doctors at the hospital said that it would never have been the same if I'd injured it to that extent later in life. But, as I was so young, they said it would most likely heal to the full extent, and whilst it took longer than expected, it has.

At the time I was more worried about effectively losing my summer holidays because this occurred two weeks before the end of the the school year. I was miserable because I had to spend the entire holiday period indoors.

Check out my YouTube channel!

I guess you didn't have a Sega machine?

Injuries are a bitch, It is totally devastating when you just cannot exercise due to injury but it is also part and parcel of having a routine. Surely the girl won't leave you just because you've fractured your ankle... like others said, take good care of your diet, follow your physio and try to do whatever you can for the upper body (summer is around the corner anyways)

There is a lot of exercise you can do while seated or laying down, just hit youtube and the internets and its all there. Get yourself some dumbells and cocnentrate on that for now, allow your ankle to heal well and start all over.

I used to wear size 42 jeans when I was 18-19, and managed to get down to size 32 (not uk sizes, anyways I was really fat, double chin and all that) I have sufferred injuries, and had on/off periods with gymming and fitness.... I never went back to that size, I put on a couple of kilograms in the winter until alarm bells start ringing in my head...

Muscle memory also helps, you will regain your form much faster when you have been training regularly for some time.

So you do not need to get so depressed.
