We were very lucky with my lad, he usually sleeps all through the night. I think the first or second night after he came home he cried for most of the night and he has done so a few times since then when he has been ill, but otherwise we barely hear a peep from him.

He is very active before bedtime though and it can take a while to get him off to sleep, but once he’s gone, I don’t hear anymore from him.

You make it sounds far easier and idyllic than it actually is, unless you're extremely lucky.

Don't get me wrong, little one is now 5 months and she's awesome most of the time but she certainly does not sleep through every night (we've had a major regression), she hates being put to bed because she wants to carry on playing, she refuses to nap because she wants to play but then gets grumpy because she's too tired.

The little bugger is hard work! :x

The missus has done the most amazing job with him, we were worried about sleep regression, but so far nothing, he has a bath, goes into our room where its dark and we give his night time bottle, where he starts to get sleepy, once he's finished he goes in his cot with his mobil playing and he rolls onto his side and goes to sleep. Sometimes he wakes around 2am for a feed but he is more often than not dropping that feed now in prep for weaning i dunno. Do you have a routine with him?

Moggy, luckily everyone at work is a parent and loves seeing the photos. He is like a show pony, gets bought into work and passed around for cuddles, I'm keen for him not to be scared of other people so I let others hold and play with him as much as I can.

But baby knows whats coming, he knows that its nap time at specific points of the day, he knows that when he goes into the bedroom for his last bottle playtime is over etc. We probs have been a bit lucky, but I'm in awe of how moms do it. I looked after him for half a day and after an hour I was knackered

The fact that she knows it's bed or nap time is currently our problem, that's the tricky thing. The routine has turned against us!

Sorry if I sounded a bit short, I've no doubt your missus is doing a totally amazing job, I reacted to the (totally unintentional) implication that mine wasn't just because we are currently having some sleep issues.

My bad!

I do genuinely believe babies gonna baby though, that's why the mums are amazing. If it was as simple as running a routine out of book it wouldn't be difficult at all but every baby has their own way of doing things. And it changes. All the bloody time.

My lad really doesn’t like men at all. He isn’t scared or anything, he just has no interest at all.

If he sees a pretty girl though he goes crazy and wants cuddles. Me and my mother took him out for a meal in a pub a few weeks ago and he was obsessed with the barmaid in there, walking up to her and just holding his arms up expecting her to pick him up. She loved him, at one point she said “he’s going to have to stop doing that, he’s so cute it’s making my womb hurt!”.

He’s a little Cassonova.

How? Surely she needed to feed in the early weeks. 11 hours without milk isnt good surely?

Babies aren't daft, if they aren't hungry they wont wake, bug as like this, not quite as long but still slept much much longer at night. The health vistor said we should just wake her to feed her but we just adjusted her day bottles to make up for what she wasn't drinking at night because no strawberry floating way were going to wake her.

Im confused how a newborn can do that. Ours needed feeding every 3 or so hours :x

Now the only time we wake him is during the day when he tries to sleep for too long :slol:

Each are different I guess, we went for the the approach of she will wake when she wants to and moan when she is hungry so let her run with it kind of thing. Seems to have worked well :D

Yeah they told us to wake her on a schedule as she needs to feed every 3-4 hours, strawberry float that, we let her sleep. It did mean a bottle every 2 hours when she was awake for the first few weeks but it worked out fine. Early days she wouldnt sleep until 11 or 12 at night but it would be 10am before she would wake, that lasted for maybe 2 weeks until she started getting tired earlier so every few days wed put her down about 15 minutes before we usually did, she never resisted but she would wake a little earlier. By about 3 months she was sleeping 8-7 and still is.

Were under no illusions, we know this is incredibly rare, we have worked on building a strong routine but she definitely provided the foundation for the whole thing. Its one of the things that has made me wary of having a second one, the wife is all for it but I could not imagine having the do the late night stuff, not after the easy ride weve had so far.

We have one from the same company (kind of, it's an iCoo, but they seem to be from the same parent company here). We bought it from a garage sale for $30 and it's awesome but it's huge. Along with the huge car seat (we got the kind that converts as they grow up) it takes up almost all the space in the car.

In the end I got this thing...

http://www.toysrus.ca/product/index.jsp ... =121116816

It's great, and was on sale for $399. The car seat is definitely not as sturdy as the convertible Recaro one as there is no top tether on this thing, but it's so much easier to use. It also takes up way less space, and you can have just the car seat on the stroller and in that case the seat attaches directly to the frame, so I don't need to worry about the entire thing being held up by two flimsy plastic connectors like in that first stroller I got. :x

My lad was at my dads today and I picked him up. He slept all the way home but woke up when I got him out of the car and as soon as I got through the front door he puked all over me. Twice.

Urghhhh!!! It smelt so bad. :dread:

He’s not really been sick since we put him on solids so I guess I was due a puking.

He seems fine now so I don’t think it’s a bug. My dad fed him just before I fetched him so I guess it was the motion of the car combined with the meal.

Urghhh it was horrible. :dread:
