haha bugger face!

We currently have bug trying to play one of us off against the other so will ask one they say no then she will ask the other and if you say no she will say "mummy said". She tends to go to the wife first and then try me as I'm going to be a softer touch or something.

I get a lot of "please, daddy" too now...

Ella has tried so many ways over the years to avoid bedtime, lately she's not so bad, but she wakes up at 7 every morning and wakes you up laughing to herself as she plays her DS.

So. Oliver is walking. Properly.

She cried. I laughed. He bombs around everywhere looking so pleased for himself.

It’s great when they start walking but it also means you will now never get a moment to yourself.

He was getting really frustrated because he couldnt walk and that would result in him hanging on our legs whilst we try to wash up or whatever. At the minute he's just all over the place. Blowing raspberries and squealing. He's come on in leaps and bounds this week. He's 1 in 3 weeks

I am finding this seriously difficult. Our daughter cries all the livelong day, the doctors are just guessing when we take her in (at the moment they think it is some kind of reflux). They recommended changing formulas, we've tried numerous formulas, soy, lactose free, instant, everything. Still she cries. It's slowly killing me. Coming to work is now a welcome break from it but the wife is stuck with her all day without a moment's peace. She's at her wit's end.

Mate. It happened to my fiancee and oliver. Have you changed his bottles. Doctor brown. Aptamil milk. When does she cry. Hang in there. It gets easier. I promise.

Is she constipated?

We had something like when we were using Cow and Gate, swapped to SMA and sorted it right out, also the bottles that has the little air valve in the teat are essential and it reduces the amount of air they swallow making them less gassy and shiz.

We didn’t have any issues like that, but my cousin did (she had a baby at the same time as us). From what I remember she changed formula and things improved, but it’s just something that takes time.

It really isn’t long until they start on solids, you just have to hold in there, things will get better.

Is she constipated?

She cries all day. We started on SMA, she didn't like it as she fought feeding. Switched to a soy formula and she fed well but ended up constipated. Switched to Aptamil, seemed to like it but vomited far much. Switched then to Aptamil instant, seems to like it, doesn't fight feeding so much but is still screaming all the time. Gone back to the SMA soy formula but still screaming, now currently trying Aptamil lactose free (wife is allergic to lactose so thinking maybe the baby is). I'll look into the colic teets.

Trying to get her to sleep is impossible sometimes. She's basically awake the same number of hours as a normal adult but is supposed to be sleeping for about 16 hours a day.

Why lactose free?

It sounds to me very much like the valved teets will sort it out, without it they need to work harder adn harder with each suck of the bottle as you are creating a vacuum in the bottle so they start swallowing water leading to stomach pain and pukage.

These are the bottles we used: https://www.tesco.com/groceries/en-GB/p ... /268609187

We thought it may be lactose etc. when we had issues with Cow and Gate as moo was screaming a lot, constipated a bit and skin was awful. We swapped to SMA and the change was almost instant it was incredible.

I would start with the basics, the soya etc. formula's are crazy expensive so try the simple stuff and be methodical, get the valved teats see how you get on and then move to other stuff etc.

Vomitting after a feed is 90% over feeding.

My little one vomitted once, ever, as a baby cos we never held her to any schedule and fed her when she wanted not when time dictated.

This is exactly what we have done and that's how we're at where we are now.

Fair enough, it may be handy to have a list of stuff tried as we can then work from that with ideas.

As it is to me it sounds like teats may help and possibly over feeding as Photek said it may be worth drinking bottle size by size 25% to see and try to feed when little'un wants it not when a schedule says you should.

We don't follow a schedule, we feed her when she tells us she's hungry (in her own way).

cool cool then yeah try dropping bottle size a little it could be that there is too much for her to handle but being a baby they just chug away not really worrying about it.

Does your baby still have problems when she's breastfeeding or is she exclusively bottle fed? If you are using formula because your wife doesn't produce enough milk, it may be worth looking into some supplements.

When my son was first born my wife didn't produce enough, but she started taking Blessed Thistle and Fenugreek supplements (they're normally sold as two seperate pills but I found one sold as one pill) and they really worked well for her. She also had a friend who is a breast feeding consultant who gave her a massage to help with milk production and said that worked as well, although she thinks the supplement is what really helped.

In addition to that supplement, we also got a list from a breast feeding consultant about other stuff that helps milk production, these are:

- alfalfa
- spirulina
- goat's rue
- raspberry leaf
- fennel
- brewers yeast
- stinging nettle
- shatavari

There are also some teas out there as well which are supposed to help.

Thats what we did, things will improve mate, promise. When bobs was about 8 weeks he used to scream from 5pm till about 7pm. Every single day. And then he stopped. I was on moms forums trying to work out what was going on and everyone just kept saying you'll just have to fight through it. Change the bottles to doctor browns, they work, very well. Hope she starts to come round soon.
