I remember with my first kid having to sleep at 6am, my missus would go to bed and get up at 6, while I stayed up cause the little gooseberry fool wouldn't sleep. It was not fun  10 years later and he still doesn't sleep :x

We have a backwards child, he literally sleeps and eats all daytime, until around 8pm when he decides its time Im going to cry, puke, eat, gooseberry fool, eat more, nap for 20 minutes..and not sleep until 4am. Last night I actually was asleep trying to pick him up off the bed as at the minute until around 3am thats where he will sleep. :fp: Freaked the missus out a bit

I visited my little nephew yesterday; he's now five weeks old and he, too, seems to sleep and eat all day and then be awake and eating all night. My brother was saying that the night before was really cool because they got three hours sleep :dread: .

My nephew is piling on the weight, too - he is quite a chubby fella!

Yeah, we're averaging between 3-7 hours a night atm, if he drinks his late night bottle, he zonks out until around 2am, if he doesn't, thats when the fun starts, eating, winding, eat a bit more, burp a bit more, fall asleep whilst eating. wake up 20 minutes later.

I mean FALLING ASLEEP WHILST EATING, how amazing is that. He's put on 3oz in a week  And then he wakes up about 6am, and his cheeky little face makes it all worth it

The eating while falling sleeping thing is amazing to see, sometimes even when you take the bottle away the mouth will still go for a bit longer.

How are you sorting the feeds, are you running on a schedule or waiting for him to demand food? We went for the demand option and we had no night feeds within like 2 months as she was eating during the day and sleeping at night. We also did cot sleeping only at night, she slept on us / sofa in the day for naps and it created a really good idea of "day" and "night" for her.

We are waiting for him to demand food. Which is basically every 4 hours, he starts chomping on his hand, and making chompy noises  , then the screaming starts. He does the same in the day, but seems lot more content during the day. Wish he would sleep all night, the midwife just told us to wait until he starts crying then give him food.

Yeah waiting til then is good, they can be greedy bastards so will make out they are hungry when they aren't to get more food.

We also re-distributed our bottles after a couple of weeks, the theory was we wanted to create the idea that night time is sleep time, day time is awake time so we graadually shrunk the night feed bottles and added the amount to the day ones it then meant she was used to not eating at night as much and made it easy to transition to sleeping all night as she wasn't expecting / wanting food.

Sounds decent in theory mate, how on earth do I expect him to eat less at night, just let him cry when he wants more? :( Id be happy with him drinking his milk, burping, shitting, then going back to sleep for 4 hours, unfortunately that isn't the case atm :slol:

We fed on demand but we used a combination of boob and formula. My wife slept with him at night and so just shoved a boob in his face when he woke up.

He's very good at night though and pretty much always has been. He wakes up really early though and is not the quietest when he does wake. Je doesn't really cry, just happy laughing and burbling words.

We hit the absolute jackpot with Zelda, she has never woken for a feed in the night. Seriously, not once since the day we brought her home. The only reason she will wake in the night is if she notices her dummy is out of her mouth, you jam it back in there and shes content once more and goes right back to sleep. The first few weeks she would be awake until kinda late, it would be midnight or 1 am before she would drop off but that gradually became earlier and earlier and now she goes down around 8 pm every night and doesn't wake until 7 am. Errkal makes a good point about filling them up during the day, Zelda was feeding every 2-3 hours during the day, my wife was freaking out because she was supposed to be able to go 4-5 hours between feeds but the total amount of milk was the same, she just didn't take a bottle at night. A much more preferable situation if you ask me.

Also that first morning nappy weighs a strawberry floating ton, never ceases to amaze me how much piss they can actually hold.

Think he might have a bit of tummy ache too, his belly keep gurgling like no bodies business, is this normal? His poo's are starting to change now like we were told, this guessing game isn't fun. He doesn't seem to be in any pain, is asleep now, had two poo's this morning, isn't being sick etc..?

Zelda can makes noises like a docker after a curry and 10 pints some days but she hasn't had any problems with food or feeding so I wouldn't worry too much. If you do have concerns then by all means get thee to a doctor and find out for sure.

Im not worried at all, he doesn't have a temperature, he is still feeding, burping etc, I assume as they're new theres loads of stuff going on. Every different noise they make is terrifying mind you.

They poos where something I didn't expect, it was like tar to start with. Cool thing I hadn't realised though is when they are doing "normal" poos, if they are green it shows they are eating too much, which is sort of cool in an odd way.
