We had baby glowys injections t'other day. Safe to say i cried as much as he did. The noise he made when the needle went in will stay with me forever.

Luckily he got over it quite quickly. 2 days later and he is back to normal.

This threads gone a little quiet. How is parenting going GRdads?

My little lad gets more amazing by the day. He’s already developing a little rebellious streak which is as hilarious as it is maddening. Yesterday I made him cry in a tantrum after he tried to rebel. He went and sat near where the wife’s ( :shifty:

) ironing board was leaning against a wall and then he tapped it with his hand. Knowing it would topple on him (but being too lazy to go and move it) I said “No!”. He looked at me, smirked and then started slapping the gooseberry fool out of the ironing board. :lol:

I had to hold in the giggles when I grabbed him, told him he was naughty and carried him to another room which led to floods of tears and screaming. :slol:

Going good, Bug is well and truly pushing her boundries and stuff now. She has little stampy feet tantrums and huffs when she is told no to something.

She still has no teeth which is pissing the wife off as she wants the teething thing to be over, but everything else she is cracking on a pace with as is running about and can sort of do simple words like Cat, Dog, Dad and Daddy, she can do Mummy but doesn't do it often.

Turns out she very much enjoys theme parks which is good as me and the wife have done 11 trips so far (4 with bug) and gets very excited when we go to certain rides she knows at Chessington.

She loves walking and gets very grumpy if she is put in the buggy to go about places (which the mother law seems to insist on doing when she is looking after her)

All good here, shes still a happy camper, right on the verge of walking, cant wait to break out the baby leash and have her lead me around places. Wife is going a bit mad that we both work so its her sister spending all day with her but that cant be avoided as having money for bills and what not is pretty handy. I still dont believe it sometimes, Ill go and check on her at night and just stop for a second looking at her and think "I made that", I dont think Ill ever get used to that.

We have a similar thing with us both working, my mum and the wifes mum spend a lot of time with bug as they look after her 4 days a week, the wife does 4 days a weeks so gets 1 day in the week. It jsut means we do as much as we can at the weekends to make up for it.

When bug is bigger and (if) the free nursery stuff happens then she will do that a bit too but right now it just isn't affordable as the nurseries our way want £45-55 a day which is just insane.

He has said it before but my boy is currently refusing to say dad/daddy/dada/daddad, I think because he knows I want him to. My wife jumped out on him the other day to fighten him and in his panic he came scrambling over to me saying “dad-dad-dad”. Cheeky little sod. :wub:

I know what you mean. My boy is 15 months old now and I still find it unbelievable that not only did I make him, but that he is absolutely perfect.

Little Lady Pancake is a fat and grumpy 3 month old. We took her swimming for the first time on the weekend and she reacted with total indifference, no screams of displeasure, no happy smiles, just a bored look as if she was taking us swimming and patiently waiting for us to stop messing around.

Nice, Zelda loves the water thankfully, it does mean bath time takes longer than it should as you cant just take her out when youre done, she has to have her play time. So we just wash her and then take the plug out, once the water is gone she doesnt mind getting out. Goes nuts for the pool, beats the living gooseberry fool out of the water, and gets pissed if we try to take her out before she has had her filling of smacking it. :wub:

Bobs (ollibobs) is trying to roll, laugh, giggle the whole lot, he is turning into an amazing little dude, sleeps decent during the night, has lots of playtime, has 2 friends from baby yoga, his mommy is wonderful with him. All the worries we had no seem such a long time ago.

11 weeks tomorrow. :wub:

Bug doesn't give a gooseberry fool about water, doesn't cry or anything just isn't really fussed. She has been swimming a couple of times but doesn't really care about it. Pisses the wife off who seems to think she should love swimming etc so I need to keep an eye on it to make sure she isn't over pushing the idea.

Bug did love her paddling pool though playing in that so it's sort certain things I guess.

Finished parenting classes tonight, and I have to say what a waste of money. The classes were recommended to us by the obstetricians office as being "very good" and run by two nurses from the local hospital.

Literally all we did was watch a video lecture, and between each chapter the nurse who was our instructor would pause and tell us some extra bits of information.

- There was nothing on breathing techniques for childbirth

- There was nothing on actually caring for the baby once its born outside of breastfeed skin to skin right away

There was a doll that each couple had that was placed in front of them and in our first day we each also had a package of diapers. I thought we would practice putting them on but nope. We didn't even touch the dolls until the 2nd (and last) day, where our instructions were "hold the baby while we watch this next clip". That was it. Nothing on how to hold the baby, or how you need to support the neck as newborns can't support their own neck.

What a waste of two nights and $140!

Was mostly a bunch of useless bollocks about doing "what feels right" but with no actual fact about the advantages or disadvantages of certain birth plans or pain relief. Load of bollocks.

We had to pay for baby cult (Well wife did as I said it was pointless and they could get to strawberry float) the NHS didn't have anything at all for new parents round our way.

We had it all for free, but I didn't bother going to any of them and the wife couldn't be arsed after the first one as it was so pointless.

Our NCT course was pretty informative - felt pretty factual, and the woman delivering (!) it was quite young (and hot), and not too preachy.

Probably did make us more confident going into the birth. Best of all, the other half is still in touch with all five other mums, and the lad's best friend at nursery is one of the girls, who he has been mixing with since they were a few weeks old.

Edit: we also did the NHS one (because it was the only way we could get the tour of the birthing suite at the RVI) and it was nowhere near as good. I guess experiences can very depending on who's leading the course and who your classmates are. The woman who came in just for the breastfeeding segment was everything you'd expect NCT to be - patronising, overbearing, didn't acknowledge any of the dads for the whole time, etc.
