4 days for the expected date I assume glowy. Have the doctors said what the plan is if it doesn't happen by then . I think normally if nothing happens in 2 weeks after the due date then the pregnancy will be induced.

Yeah 2 weeks sounds about right, we were over by a week I think, wife wasn't impressed

We were about 10 days under, that was a fun surprise on a Saturday morning!

I think it depends what hospital/NHS trust you are in - some will let you go longer than 2 weeks if all is well, others like to whip them out as soon as possible after the due date!

I think we were over 2 weeks late with our first before induction was on the cards, and then it still took another 2-3 days for anything to actually happen! She really wasn't in any rush to make an appearance!

We were induced early because of gestational diabetes. I think they used to whip them out 2 weeks early as standard, but we were given the option. The wife had had enough of being pregnant and so we went for it.

Turned out to be a good decision as well, the inducing started working much quicker than expected (it can sometimes take days, it took hours for us!) and the baby was in trouble, so we were taken in for a caesarean.

Oddly it was all a much quicker and calmer way of doing things. Turn up at the hospital, sit in a room while they induce, wait around, go to delivery suite, off to theatre and then get the baby. All in all, it was less than 10 hours from when we showed up at the hospital to me holding the baby and she was only really in labour for an hour or two.

For my wife it was fairly speedy as they needed to get him out 4 weeks early, we sat/slept around in the hospital for a day and a bit and then when there was an opening because of doctors and an incubator needed it was 1-2 hours and done as she had a caesarean. It was probably the least stressful thing about the whole pregnancy because of other complications. My wife was also happy as her body is already pretty much back to the way it was before.

I think it took about 4 hours from "Oh gooseberry fool my water broke" to "Say hello to your daughter". We went private and they try to schedule births as much as possible, so we had the whole place to ourselves when we rocked up on a Saturday morning. There were 5 nurses, 2 doctors and an anesthetist and we had them all to ourselves. A nice glimpse into how the other half live!

I'd agree with that, the caesarean should have been scary, but it was just so calm and they were so efficient in the operating theatre that the only nerves were the normal "oh gooseberry fool I'm going to be a dad!" nerves.

I guess a natural birth is preferable, but I highly recommend an inducement and caesarean if offered.

Just as the surgeon looks at your partners bits he started singing "more than a woman to meeeeeeee"

strangely at the end of the surgery and as i left our surgeons all started singing Bare necessities which my wife joined in with as she loves Disney, it was bloody weird. It was like something out of Scrubs.

My boys first birthday and I seem to have been opening cards and presents all morning while he's happy playing with the wrapping paper.

He did get this outfit which I like.
