Some Shadowplay trubs meant I only got the first 30 minutes captured. I paused to use the bathroom, and when I returned, it stopped streaming not long thereafter. It lost about an hour of footage. :(

Starts at about 6:30. Honestly? Not as frightening as I'd built it up in my head to be. Which is great, because everything about the story appeals to me, so I might actually see it all. The robots are really creepy, but kind of non-threatening at this early stage. It almost feels like it's going easy on me to start with.

So this is pretty dark. I've only played for 90 minutes and I've possibly murdered three sentient beings. One of which I tortured to death so I could open a door. :dread:

If I had been murdered by robots and then had my consciousnesses put in a robot, I'd be annoyed too.

If SOMA is a decent length then it might still be worth a day 1 buy.

The requirements for Amnesia really arent that high. Its not exactly a looker

My laptop is 9 years old :shifty:

I know :( it's so slow it's kind of funny in a tragic way.
Picked this up on PS4 in the end.

Amnesias monsters freaked me the hell out, this thing had me laughing. Seeing it waddle about and clip through scenery, the strawberry floating thing looks like an upturned VW Beetle on legs. Ugh. Not even a little scary. Hell not even intimidating, I was literally just looking at it like "wait, is that it?"

I hope you kept playing because that really, really wasn't it.

Currently I'm stuck in a tiny room while that weird naked guy with a bug head is wandering around outside and my screen keeps jumping.

I don't want to move...

So at the end of Delta Station after you murder an innocent robot, your welder helper robot will start to flee whenever you get close to him.

Theta Station- This may be the first video game not made in Japan where you can rummage through the lead female character's underwear and tampon drawer. Not that I did.

What decision did people make with the robot outside Theta?I killed her, didn't feel right to let her sit there at the bottom of the ocean for all eternity. Felt a bit bad when I entered her bedroom though. :(

Definitely agreeing with reviews so far, the bits with the monsters are really quite formulaic. Whenever they're not around the game is much more entertaining.

I didn't even realise you could kill her. I left her to rot after telling her I'll be back soon.

I won't be back soon.

Yeah she had a disconnect point. Her screaming and pleading as you take it out are really quite horrible. :(

Know what movie this is really reminding me of?The Prestige. The idea of cloned consciousnesses and what being a person really is. Very interesting.

Finished.

Hard to what to say really. Gameplay wise it's really not that different from Amnesia (the meagre amount I managed to play) and yes, I'd say it's not as scary. There were a few tense scenes but they rapidly became annoying, forcing you to work on a puzzle while being hunted by a shrieking Beastie. By far the most disturbing moments came from the story which has some genuinely chilling stuff going on. The ending is pitch perfect on this front and I'm already finding myself running it over and over in my head, trying to grasp the situation it presents... Poor Simon MkII. His anger and jealousy at his newly copied self was horrifying in its own way, and desperately sad. Even seeing Simon MkIII on the ARK was nullified by the final fade out of the ruined Earth.

SOMA definitely feels like the game BioShock Infinite wanted to be, at least in a narrative sense. It tackles it's themes far better than that bloated mess however, and left me feeling genuinely taken aback as a result.

Well this a great cure constipation. Even if your not constipated.
Loved it so far, save for one massively difficult bit where I was getting horribly disorientated leading to me having to replay said bit about 8 times.
Loved the start as well. One of the best ever. Reminded me of Half Life.
