Don't worry, I wasn't in a jail cell for indecent exposure and my hull remained in beached. Though apparently Japanese dating etiquette meant there was very little chance of anything heading south on a second meeting.

In fact the whole dating thing here bemuses me. I am not sure if I have had my head turned by the words of other westerners here, but apparently you don't get much in the way of physical contact - both the Falsey kind and the general touchy-feelyness* you get when two people like each other.


Other GRcadians from Japan may be able to help me but is this true? I was told that generally nothing will happen (sober) until you sort of declare feelings to the girl.

I am meeting the girl for the fourth time tomorrow and for a fifth time on Saturday, and I am still in the dark as to whether they are actually dates.

Normally in the UK I would either have drunkenly got with this girl already or would be planning too. But over here I am either overthinking it or it seems quite platonic how you approach things (before this "confession", or it is just platonic and I am misreading things).

Basically, if I can't figure out another way, I will do one of these awkward confession things when I hooefully get her to my apartment next week.

But by God, if embarrassing, unplanned and slightly awkward drunk sex wouldn't help break the ice a little better. Then we could decide if we like each other afterwards. It's the good old British way.

We went to a nomihodai the other Saturday, but that was the first time we'd went out so I didn't try anything radical. Now, however, if sobriety is breached I can attempt something.

Wanted some advice guys:

Met this girl (best friend of my best friends GF) over new year spent 2 days with her, possibly best 2 days of my life we just connected completely, but she lives in Ireland our lives are at different stages. If she was in London there wouldn't be an issue.

Now i am the least confident person ever, I have no confidence in myself or around women but we just clicked so well over new year and I barely drank anything. It was bliss everything was just awesome.

The question is, we both left it as maybe we will meet again with better circumstances, i have her on FB and have avoided contacting her because of that reason but its not like she's in the US or Aus Ireland is pretty close but, do i message her and see if anything will occur or just bury it to the back of my mind and stop thinking about her?

As above i am useless with this stuff but any advice would be great.

Is this romantic connection definitely reciprocated?

Is there a feasible end to any distance? Will she move nearer to you at any point/would you ever move near her?

How often would you feasibly see each other?

With long distance, I always believe the length of your relationship/connection prior can withstand the strain if it is greater than the time of the long distance part. So a couple who are together two years will be able to take the strain of a year apart perhaps. A couple together three months will find it more difficult.

Your problem is, your connection is two days, which will maybe struggle to support a much longer distance relationship.

I would still message her though. You would have more regrets not doing it.
