What the hell was that?

It was even worse than I expected.
So after everything Jax abandons his kids and drives into a truck. An apt metaphor for the show.

That was hilariously bad

So after a whole season where Jax just goes around murdering everyone, we get another hour literally devoted to Jax killing people. I had to laugh when he wouldn't incriminate himself or the club to CCH Pounder and then straight after kills Robocop in front of witnesses wearing his full SoA outfit. Then does the same on the steps to August. What was the thing with the homeless person all about? Were they in on it? Why did she give Jax her blanket? What was her sandwich doing on the road at the end?

So Jax chooses suicide by Vic Mackey and makes a big show of it by bringing all of the cops along. That's the kind of wacky ending that actually suits the show, however it was filmed so badly that you can only laugh at how terrible it is. They were clearly riding those bikes at like 5mph and then the obvious green screen and CGI and crow's eye view and poor editing all combine into a brilliant mess.

Best not to say much about the scene just before where they shoot the club member in his good arm just as a "he shot us and got away" excuse. Made all the worse by the way they act and cry because Jax is leaving them :fp:

I enjoyed the season overall. It was never great and I didn't ever expect it to be, but it was entertaining for the most part.

The only reason the cops weren't catching him on that old Harley was because they were all sticking to the 55mph speed limit.

Apparently the homeless woman is some ghost of a woman who died in the same crash as Jax's dad. Or whatever.

Just watched the finale - god damn that was awful. What a waste of time. I'll fondly remember the part where Opie had his revenge on the ATF agent, but the last few seasons have been atrocious.

I'm glad I avoided this thread and enjoyed the entirety of the series without over-analysing it. :dread:

Last season was fairly bloated in fairness and that ending scene.

What a show though. SOA

Kurt Sutter Drama ‘Bastard Executioner’ Picked Up To Series By FX For Fall Launch

A period drama, The Bastard Executioner tells the story of a warrior knight (Lee Jones) in King Edward I’s charge who is broken by the ravages of war and vows to lay down his sword. But when that violence finds him again he is forced to pick up the bloodiest sword of all.

“From his important contributions to The Shield to his epic run on Sons Of Anarchy, Kurt has been one of FX’s most visionary artists, and we are proud to get him back on the air so soon after the unquestionable success of Sons,” said FX Networks CEO John Landgraf.

Added Sutter, “I love history. I love theology. I love blood. It’s been very satisfying weaving fact and fiction to create a new mythology that combines all these elements. And with this extraordinary cast — Stephen Moyer, Katey Sagal and newcomer Lee Jones — this world explodes on screen. I love working with FX and Fox21TVS. They’ve been my family for 15 years. They not only tolerate me, they embrace my extremely disturbing storytelling sensibilities.”

Bastard Executioner, created by Sutter, features series regulars Jones, Moyer, SOA‘s Sagal and Sutter, Flora Spencer-Longhurst, Sam Spruell, Darren Evans, Danny Sapani, Timothy V. Murphy, Sarah White, Sarah Sweeney, Elen Rhys, Ethan Griffiths and guest star Matthew Rhys.

“Kurt Sutter and Brian Grazer have been spectacular creative partners — and dear friends — to our studio for years, and their collaboration has resulted in a fantastic and epic new series,” said Fox TV Group chairmen and CEOs Gary Newman and Dana Walden, who called The Bastard Executioner “dangerous, brilliant, emotional and undeniable.”

Sons of Anarchy spin-off in the works at FX

Scoop: Kurt Sutter developing series chronicling the Mayans motorcycle club

The world of Sons of Anarchy could ride again at FX.

After years of hinting that Sons might get a spin-off, EW has learned that series creator Kurt Sutter is now in the preliminary stages of developing a new show set in the Northern California motorcycle club scene.

Details about the project are scarce. In fact, we only know one thing for certain about the proposed storyline: The project focuses on the Mayans — the Oakland-based Hispanic MC gang that had quite a rocky history with SAMCRO across seven seasons. In the original series, the Mayans run heroin factories and are also involved in prostitution. Their cuts bear the legend “Los Asesinos de Dios” — Assassins of God.

Sutter had previously teased the idea of doing an SoA prequel as recently as last month at Comic-Con, possibly as a limited series. FX won’t officially confirm whether the new series will be a prequel or not. Either way, creating a new drama set in the SoA-verse makes plenty of sense for FX as Sons ranks as the most popular show in the network’s history. Last December’s Sons finale was seen by a whopping 9.2 million viewers.

Sutter will executive produce the as-yet-untitled project, and is currently hunting for a showrunner to handle the Mayan’s day-to-day management. Sutter will remain focused on running his upcoming medieval drama The Bastard Executioner, which premieres Tuesday, Sept. 15 (and stars Lee Jones, Stephen Moyer, Katey Sagal and Ed Sheeran). Sutter also wrote the screenplay for the feature film Southpaw starring Jake Gyllenhaal, which was released last month.

The Mayans project would be produced by Fox 21 Television Studios and FX Productions.

Just finished watching this show on Netflix and then read the thread. A lot of whiny bitches in here.

A good show overall, plenty of stupid and unrealistic moments but they were there from the start. The ending could have been better though, Christ on a bike just didn't quite work.
