Jon is now commander of the night's watch, Tyrion is a fugitive but still alive (Denster lives another day) and went badass on Shae and his father, Catelyn is still around ( :dread: ), Littlefinger is an evil genius and everything started with him getting Lysa to poison her husband to frame the Lannisters, Joffrey dies and it's revealed he sent the assassin and more and more. I can barely wrap my head around it all. Out of all the weddings only Tyrion and Sansa's goes off without a death.

Although less spectacular I think I preferred the Purple Wedding to the Red Wedding just because it finally rid us of that little arsehole Joffrey.

it's not the step down in FFC. It's the change of focus.

I maintain FFC is better than DWD.

I totally agree.

But I guess it depends which characters you prefer reading. DWD killed me, only just managed to get through it.

Agreed.

Seeing as events in FFC overlap those in SoS (and possibly DWD) I think the TV series will actually make the story easier to understand by showing events in sequence .

Book 3 Spoilers:

In the Season 4 Episode 1 was the necklace that Ser Dontos gave Sansa the poison that will be used on Joffrey? It was her hairnet in the books right?

'Twas a hairnet in the book but I do think it's likely they've switched it to a necklace going from that scene.

Yeah that makes sense.

Also Marillion the Bard that Baelish accuses of killing Lysa has his tounge cut off after being tortured in Harrenhall right? I wander how they're going to change it in the show.

but the gems on the necklace are huge, surety Sansa would notice if one went missing. the ones in the hairnet were tiny.

also, isn't it the same poison which was used to attempt to kill Meleisandre? that was a tiny crystal iirc

I can't believe how much I'm enjoying A Feast for Crows given how similarly political/schemey rather than action it is to A Clash of Kings and how little I enjoyed that.

But this is just brilliant. A couple of chapters have been standout brilliant already and I'm only halfway through. Littlefinger talking to the Vale Lords, Cersei's scheming and Brienne's whole journey have been ace.

AFFC has a lot of good in it, the Jaime and Cersei chapters are some of the best in the series. Cersei's arc in particular is amazing.

It's Dance With Dragons which drags on and on and on.

About eight. Young enough that he's excited that Margaery gets him a cat.

I'd be excited about that, in fairness.
