this looks bad, but the glitches make up for great youtubes and streams so hey ho!

honestly, still looks better than '06. seriousely, that games loading was infuriating, and it was way worse glitchy.

This is what happens when you 100% complete the 3DS game.

They all dance like Neil from The Inbetweeners.

I don't even think the die hard Sonic fans are defending this. Not even Seven.

It just astounds me anyone can mess up any game series THIS bad.

The thing for me personally is that....well not even the games that people say are good ARE actually that good. I mean personally I've never liked Sonic Adventure. It was a game almost bereft of content with some horrible parts that people seem to now overlook when they call it 'a classic', something that I still don't get to this day. The flagship game at the games launch wasn't even the best game available at the Dramcast launch never mind some great game to be remembered for decades. Even Sonic Adventure 2 which fixes some things is not a game I personally like. If you take those games out, theres barely been any good 3D Sonic games AT ALL. If games are aiming to be something like Sonic Heroes or something, that just shows how low they are aiming.

What a pitiful shame.

I'm still trying to understand why people hate Sonic Colours so much, it is one of the few 3D sonics games that was focused, knew what it wanted to be and felt comfortable with itself. It wasn't perfect but it feels a lot more solid than Generations which felt a bit disjointed at times.

I've watched a few Sonic Boom [Wii U] vids and it's not as bad as I'd expected. 'The internet' has it positioned as the worst game ever and I'd thought that it would be *really* bad. It seems that it's clunky, a bit unambitious and poorly optimised... but it still seems to have a couple of good ideas hidden behind these faults.

I'm not proclaiming that it's a great game nor that Sega shouldn't be taking *far* more care with their prime franchise. I guess that, because of the volume of criticism, I'm intrigued and I want to see it for myself.

no pls

just no

pls.

Someone on here would tell you I'm biggest Sonic fanboy (whatever that's right or not is up to you, I'm more of Mario fan tbh and I just happen to like Unleashed without werehog sections, Generations and Colours which are actually great fun) but I even wouldn't touch this with pole.

I've suffered enough from Sonic The Hedgehog 2006 and I do not want to suffer another bad Sonic game with worst design for characters (aside from Tails, which I think fits him really well).

Take Sonic the character out of the more-acclaimed 3D games and they'd be much-less well received. Even Adventure 2, which I'd say is the pick of the bunch, has some horrendous sections and is a frustrating mess more often than it's a cool, likeable adventure. The problem with Sonic is that he was designed to be the anti-Mario - not being a Ninty fanboy, by that I mean Sega intentionally took the most popular genre of the time (2D platformer) and took the one thing Mario didn't have: speed. By focusing on the sheer rush of the game, the thrill of having the environment whizz past you, and testing the player's reflexes, they distanced themselves from the established model of focusing on exploration, precision and patience. In a 3D world, those mechanics don't work as well - forcing yourself outwards in three dimensions means you have to explore to make the most of the space available, unlike in a 2D environment where the linear format lends itself well to speed. The very best 3D Sonic levels are those that are long, straight and narrow - not a coincidence. Sonic would almost have been better off making Sonic a racing game when it jumped to 3D. The death of Sonic X-treme, the release of Super Mario 64, and the clamour for all platformers to follow that model, essentially meant that any logical, natural development progression for the Sonic series gave way to following the established model - which, ironically, is the very opposite of what Sonic was created for. A shame.

Crash bandicoot had better Animation that that, Jesus

So uis the 3DS version of this just as bad?

The concepts in this game look like they had promise. But it's like they rushed the game out a year early or something.

I hope sega are making a Sonic Generations 2. That was the best Sonic game I've ever played.
