There are mods already in development - new characters and music, apparently. :dread:

The act two oil ocean boss is absolutely strawberry floating awful, Why can the boss insta kill you by crushing you when it forces you to go in the water to damage him?

My last attempt, I jumped into one of his cannons to damage it, then bounce off into the water, and the boss sprtie spawning in crush me on the way up, before he even appeared on screen. I'll upload the clip tomorrow, it's an absolute joke.

You're supposed to keep your distance and jump in from the side. The oil is not to be trifled with.

It's just such a shame that in one fell swoop Sega have managed to kill all the enthusiasm and good will they got with the console launch. It's also going to make people a lot more wary of future Sega PC releases.
Oddly though their recent releases like Bayonetta and Vanquish didn't have Denuvo, so it's weird they'd choose to slap it onto Sonic Mania, even going so far as to delay the game 2 weeks to implement it.

Mania was always going to be mega popular as it was a sonic game not done by Sega, they probably pushed to have the DRM because those dirty PC bastards will just steal it, and they wanted the money.

Thing is it isn't that pricey and yeah sure some will steal it there will always be some that don't want to pay for stuff, but it would have sold well this is only going to hurt it because Sega are strawberry floating idiots.

They seem to think they are Nintendo and they can do whatever and people will just forgive it.

The Total War series is Denuvo'd out the arse. This isn't the first time they've strawberry floated around with shitty security options.

The difference is that Total War is a full price release though. Sonic Mania is priced at the same sort of levels as the Vanquish and Bayonetta PC ports and, like those, also has a console release rather than being PC exclusive.

Agents of Mayhem had Denuvo and took only 10 days to crack. If that's any indication it means that the DRM on Sonic Mania is going to take less time to crack than it took to actually implement.

I'm tempted to refund the Steam version and get it for the Switch instead. The only reason I held out for the PC version was the possibility of mods and Denuvo kills that. Got less than 2 hours on the Steam version and bought it directly from them so can get a refund.

Also, what are those grey coin things in the Star Post Sonic 3 special zones for?

They're meant to be silver, you can get gold if you get all the coins as well.

I'm going to stay with the PC version and hope they remove the DRM at some point.

Has anyone here actually been affected by Denuvo negatively? (other than mods)

I was surprised to learn a number of my games even had it, it was so unnoticeable.

Anyway, I bought it on Switch for portability.

We should migrate GRcade to Flarum. :toot:

Nope. Although I get the politics behind it and agree it's Very Bad I wouldn't let it stop me getting a game I want.

I think Denuvo has been demonstrated to put additional load onto RAM and CPU as well as noticeably increasing disk reads/writes, which can be a particular problem for SSDs.
Basically it makes your computer do more work than is necessary.
