I bought my dreamcast with sonic adventure. It's was my first sonic game since sonic and knuckles.

This is looking like it's going to be everything I've wanted from a new Sonic game.

Er, am I missing something here... from the videos of this on the first page this just looks like a remake?

Nope.

There are going to be some re-imagined classic levels, with all-new level design, but for the most part it should be new content.

You've got to do something with all those datamined tiles after all.

Bought Sonic Adventure 2.

Wanted Generations, but because I've download the trial and had it expire, I can't actually go and download the full game. As it just says "purchased". And as it's a full game, timed trial, I can't download the trial again either (apparently it's a PSN quirk and you have to go purchase the full game through the trial, except I cant access the trial either).

The physical version is cheap as chips on Amazon.

I ended up buying Sonic Adventure 2 and I'm playing through it again. Chalky will be dismayed, but I admit I do have a bit of a blind spot when it comes to the 3D Sonic games. I always seem to be able to get some enjoyment out of them, even Sonic 06 (though it's still one of the worst games I've played).

Some Dreamcast games have aged really well - SA2 looks quite good in its PSN re-release. Big, chunky graphics with plenty of colour. Some of the levels, like Metal Harbor, are blue sky gaming indicative of Sega's output around this time.

Saying that, I'm not blind to the game's flaws. As always, the best levels are the Sonic or Shadow ones. Tails and Robotnik's are mainly inoffensive shooting ones. But the Knuckles/Rogue collectathons are tedious. The bloody camera in those parts as well... It can't cope with any time when you aren't moving directly forward.

The Sonic levels in SA and SA2 aren't that bad but the rest of the games is dire.

Yeah, they are OK at best, but the others are pretty bad and the Knuckles and Rouge levels are pure shite.

I hope they have no water levels at all in these. strawberry floating hated those in the old games, completely killed the flow of the game.

The Knuckles levels in SA1 were much better. It was pretty much the same thing, but you could get the shards in any order, so if you happened to come near the third one then it would show up regardless of whether you had the first two or not.
Why the hell they removed that in SA2 I'll never know.
