The bits where you get blasted and run updpside down boil my piss as I instinctively change the redirection I'm saying to run but that screws me and fall to my death because I'm meant to keep the same direction pressed even though that is actually the wrong direction. strawberry floating annoying!

The only bit that's really frustrated me so far was the Studiopolis boss. Most of the bosses are strawberry floating hard, as they should be, but that one felt like it was luck more than anything due to the positioning of the missiles.

How's everyone doing with the Special Zone? The catch the UFO one I mean. Got the Green emerald but the second one is nails.

Once I knew what to do (thanks for being told what to do) it wasn't so bad, but yeah the placement of them wasn't great and it had a habit on not jumping quite far enough to get over them.

Flying Battery isn't gooseberry fool that over kill but it certainly is a gooseberry fool due to that control thing, I need to learn to not swap direction even though I'm technically now going left to right on the screen I'm upside down so the left and right is inverted for some unknown reason.

I am on the second act so it isn't super killnig me but it sucks to see my lives drop for silly mistakes.

Is it that left and right are inverted when running upside down, or just that the devs (be it the original ones or the new guys, as I can't remember if it's in the MD games or not) decided it was just easier to have the player keep hold of the direction they originally going rather than to keep changing it if Sonic's getting flipped about. It would get quite confusing given some of the the loops, swirls and thingmys and the speed at which Sonic travels.

I have two emeralds so far and I'm up to Flying Battery. When I tried for the third emerald I attempted to take a short cut and ended up running the wrong way round the course. I then couldn't find enough rings and failed the stage. :x

Watching Pedz play last night was enough to convince me I should get this one day. I'll just have to put up with those stupid ball stages

If you liked the Mega Drive Sonics, you'll like this.

It's not perfect, but all my gripes are minor:

- There's something off about the colour palate of the new zones: they feel washed out and faded compared to the old zones
- The music is good, but not as iconic as the early Sonic games. Also, there's no use of the classic Sonic theme (I remember reading this had something to do with rights issues back in the day though).

Aaaaand that's it. Really. It's made me lol twice with its surprises and every zone introduces a minimum of 2 or 3 new mechanics. It's fast whilst encouraging multiple playthroughs and exploration, it's hard without being frustrating (with the odd exception). It's a perfect recreation of 1990s Sonic games.

It's strawberry floating brill.

EDIT: Ooo ooo, I forgot: what display mode is everyone using? I started with default but am now married to Soft-CRT. Makes the game look even more retro without being obtrusive.

It's good like Sonic 1-3 & Knuckles were but I feel like a lot of people are a bit caught in the hype because they haven't played a new Sonic game in decades that's as fun as the originals.

Play freedom Planet, it may not have Sonic in it, but it's a similar game and great.

Yeah it is probably that, it just screws me over on long sections, it is fine on loops and stuff it is just when you go upside down for longer periods I find myself swapping as my head goes "you're going the other way now"

I love CRT sharp myself! Like Pedz I discovered the filters later than I'd have liked but honestly it looks great with all four.

I read/watched almost nothing about the game going into it so I was a bit surprised when the old zones kept popping up. But then I was equally as surprised when these turned out to be every bit as good as the new ones, due to the remixing going on. It's not an issue for me, but I suppose I can see how it might be for others. Possibly.

Didn't have any interest in this but for £9.06 from the Russian eShop I'll give it a try :shifty:

Ok, that's the first time it's pissed me off: the Oil Ocean 2nd boss. Had my first Game Over as it killed me three times in a row. The way the rings fall make it basically a one hit kill as far as I'm concerned. I started the zone over and ended up facing it with a fire shield, which makes it a hell of a lot easier. I killed it. I was happy.

Then, because the fire shield's double tap ability shoots you across and not up, I fall into the oil and die.

First time I've yelled at a game in ages. Some utter bullshit there.

This is going to sound like a humblebrag/git gud post but I did that one in one shot. I'm seeing a lot of people saying they got stuck on certain levels the only thing giving me grief at all so far is blue sphere and I always sucked at that.

If anything, this just shows how good a recreation of the 90s games it is. I was always terrible at those too.
