I know. I really honestly am not bragging but I found the whole game pretty easy. Once you figure out a bosses gimmick you can beat it pretty consistently.

Finally got the true ending...........it does lead into sonic forces. Basically the team that made this are boss but Sega are still arseholes for making them do that.

Mania is likely a proving ground, to see if Whitehead should be entrusted with a wholly new Sonic game. Given the positive reception, we'll probably see more Manias, with a lot more original content.

Remember when Dimps made the Advance games while Sonic Team did 3D stuff? This is pretty much going to be like that.

I got to the final boss and died. Didn't find the last stage any fun at all, really, and I certainly have no interest in collecting everything, so I ain't going back.

It's a good game, but like the rereleases of the classic games, it's not good enough to be more than a retro novelty.

Finally beat that strawberry floater of an Oil Ocean boss...to find another recycled zone. Don't get me wrong it's still great but they really could have had more originals here.

And just like that time, the non-Sonic Team games are going to be the considerably better option :P

I really liked what they did with that particular revisited zone, actually, except for the boss, which is utter, utter gash to fight.

There aren't more original zones because Sega was really just dipping its toes in the water with letting Whitehead head up a main series 2D Sonic - his job interview was essentially the remasters of Sonic 2, CD etc. I've got a feeling the next game of his will have a lot more original content.

Of course, but Sonic Team isn't likely to stop making Sonic games any time soon, even if they sell like crap. They need to be allowed to develop a new IP.

I of course would've liked more new zones, but they do enough new with the older ones that I didn't mind the overwhelming number of them. I know the original levels so well at this point, so I appreciated having my expectations frequently subverted with them!

Christ they do, can you imagine how sick they are of making them by this point D:

For what it's worth, they've made all the Puyo Puyo games since the 2002ish, so I guess Puyo Puyo Tetris is their best game in years!

As much as I love Mean Bean Machine, I've never been able to bring myself to buy a non-Sonic Puyo game. I just hate the generic anime look of them.

Ah Puyo Tetris may surprise you, there's some fun characters in there who aren't too stereo-typically anime (my personal favourite :3), and the story mode is surprisingly really charming and funny with a surprisingly witty self referential sense of humour. Think it was translated by Atlus folks which wouldn't surprise me.

Helps that both puzzlers are terrific and meld together in pretty creative ways across the various modes. Plus, to make it relevant to this thread, you can unlock this puyo skin:

Last of all, it has my favourite tune from Mean Bean Machine, 'Exercise':

Think I'm done with this. It just controls so badly that some of the latter platforming is just not fun. It's pure frustration. I was just trying to get to the end but it's way outstayed its welcome and everytime I put it on I'm pissed off withing 10 minutes so I don't think I'll bother.

Finally got all seven emeralds. :toot: The seventh one was pretty easy and only took me two attempts. The sixth one took the longest as it had some sharp bends which lead to me falling off a lot when I had reached max speed. :x

Now all i need to do is replay the final zone so that I can get the true ending.

The game isn't perfect, but it controls exactly the same as the old Sonics...

Wish Leaderboards worked on PS4. Got a good run on Green Hill and no idea if it is that good. Still, fun racing my mate for best lap times.

Decided to go back to S3+K as I've probably only played through it 10 or so times compared to the hunners of 1/2 (I've only played it emulated, never owned the carts). Anyway if you guys want to complain about bullshit levels go back to carnival night zone. I hate the traps in it. And the music sucks too.

Great game otherwise though.

What the strawberry float is up with the announcer in this

"It should be common sense to just accept the message Nintendo are sending out through their actions."
