August 31 release for Japan.

New Hot Shots Golf will launch for PlayStation 4 in Japan on August 31, Sony Interactive Entertainment Japan Asia announced.

The game will be available in 5,900 yen standard retail and download editions, as well as a 9,200 yen “All Courses Special Pack” download edition. The standard edition includes the game and a “20th Anniversary Commemoration Course #1” as a pre-order and early purchase bonus. The “All Courses Special Pack” includes the game, “20th Anniversary Commemoration Course #1,” “20th Anniversary Commemoration Course #2,” “Additional Courses Season Pass (Three Courses),” “Kart (Premium Type)” and “Costume (Cat).” All editions also include the “Costume (Rabbit)” as a pre-order and early purchase bonus.

Here’s a brief overview of the game:

Spacious Courses

The unique enjoyment of golfing offered only by the Hot Shots Golf series remains in tact, and is even more refreshing with spacious, open courses made up of nine holes. Outside of golfing, you can talk with other players on the open course lawn, fish in the pond, and move around in the cart in a game bustling with activity.

Create Your Own Avatar

Enjoy various game modes with your very own “My Character.” Not only can you customize your appearance and fashion to your liking, you can gradually power them up through gameplay. Develop your My Character and aim for the best score.

Play on Your Own, or With Everyone Else

Compete your golf skills against fellow in-game characters in the tournament-based “Challenge Mode,” practice courses you’re not good at in “Single Stroke,” carefully develop your My Character, and take on various courses.

On the open course, players from all over the world will compete their golf skills against each other. Challenge these players with your My Character and enjoy the “Hot Shots Golfer” life. Up to four people can also play New Hot Shots Golf in party play with a single controller.

Just hope they haven't ruined the actual game...and that you can turn off that terrible music.

£26.85 on Simplygames and a similar price on ShopTo. Not sure where that price has come from, Amazon is currently £50+. Worth diving in if it's a misprice.

Doesn't HSH win *every* GR videogame golf tourney? I remember he always did when we had the GR Mario Golf World Tour weekly championships on 3DS  .

Maybe so but it's still worth doing anyway. I'd be in even though I know I have no chance.

Oh, absolutely, Peter :-). If I get the game, I'll join in too. the 3DS game was pretty cool because you could play your tournament round whenever you wanted to during the week; and you could check out the other player scores as they completed their rounds. I wonder if Everybody's will work in the same way?

I've not played any EG in a while so I might be kind of rusty, chance for someone else to come in and challenge perhaps.

EG worked the same way. Last time I had a sliding handicap system to try and even things up a little. Hugo still won but it did make it a little more interesting.

I ran him close in one big vita tournament we did. Partially due to having a generous handicap set for me I think but I did some great rounds and finished second overall. He's good at the games and puts the hours in, it's up to us to raise our game.

After a serious amount of digging, I found the post from the last tournament.

Rex Kramer wrote:Didn't change anything in the top 3 positions in the end. The scores from this weekend are as follows

Which gives the final points tally as (showing EG points where they were needed to differentiate between positions). In the end there was only 363 points between 2nd and 3rd or about 1.5% of the points tally for the whole competition).

Image

Congratulations to Hugo who triumphed even though playing off a scratch handicap the whole time. His consistency was probably what won it for him in the end but his -23 round on Friday did place him 11th in the whole world.

Thanks again for taking part, hope it was worth the effort!

I'm definitely up for a GRcade tournament.

Like HSH said, as long as the developers haven't ruined the actual golf, it could be a lot of fun.

The one on PS3 was slightly tainted for me by having to use the new swing mechanic or lose valuable distance - hopefully the standard 3 click with power-bar will be the main focus in the PS4 iteration.
