Just woke up and I'm no more impressed by that conference than I was last night, strip away all the hype and fandom and I actually think it's their worst conference in years

- Open with Last Guardian, ok it's finally coming (probably) a game from a reputable studio, looked pretty ropey graphically to me, like it hasn't been worked on the last 5 years. Doesn't hold a huge amount of personal interest to me but can see it does for others.
- Guerilla, best part of the conferee for me, new IP, environments looked great, enjoyed the story and doesn't look to far away.
- Hitman, good another is coming though multi format so not too big a deal.
- Street Fighter V, Big coup and looks good.
- No Mans Sky, this is where things started to go wrong for me, another pretty dull demo from the guy which explained nothing of the gameplay and again did look particularly engaging to play, despite the admittedly cool concept.
- Media Molecule, looked like artsy gumph to me, which has its place but I don't see what the game is. Not dissimilar to NMS.
- Fire watch looked nice
- Destiny, strawberry float off
- FF7, I only know this is a big deal because of media chatter about it. I'll buy it when it comes out in 2017 I'm sure but it doesn't impress me really and I don't think it's a really great announcement when you boil it down.
- Shenmue 3, wow it's happening, but wait why this kickstarter crap. Really didn't like that way to announce it and it's at least 2 years away, probably over 3. Also not an exclusive.
- A load of filler
- Uncharted 4 looked incredible.

So essentially hardly anything I'll be able to play this year, a few over hyped announcements for stuff and other underwhelming demos all propped up by an amazing looking Uncharted.

Between the big 2, MS have walked this E3 for me.

Time for adventure

The issue with No Mans Sky I think is that it probably doesn't show that well when its just being played for a few minutes (nothing wrong with the game on that front its just how it is) and we've already seen it at many events.

There comes a point (and I think No Mans Sky has reached it) where you just have to release the game or stop showing it completely and get on with finishing it. Don't see what they gained by showing it off again even if it was a live demo for the first time.

I must confess to fearing the worst when he picked a completely random planet to travel to and said, to paraphrase - "I have no idea if this will work" and it totally did. Quite staggering, the scale.

When you say it totally worked...he went to a random planet and walked around a little bit. Not much to see there, if the game is mostly that then I'm not sure its actually going to be much fun to play.

My point was more to do about the sheer size and scope of the game.
As for longevity in terms of gameplay - you appear to gain currency by exploring, mining resources. What that gets spent on is anyone's guess. I'm thinking, upgraded warp drives to travel to even more galaxies.

Yeah and that could be cool, but I think there has to be something a little bit more.

Have they said anything on if there is some kind of quest or mission structure or not?

I think there were things to do on there, he just didn't have the time to locate them. I mean he said the planet had no creatures and then the next thing you know there're critters scurrying about and mechanoids chasing him as he blew gooseberry fool up. But I expect there to be a lot of even more barren looking planets.

Not yet. At the start of the demo there was a battle between 2 factions and the guy said you could interfere and join one, but as he blew a few up there was no, like, notification pop-ups about loyalty 'points' or whatever, it didn't seem to matter.

I just got to watch the Sony conference.

> Impressive stack of games with lots of diversity and triple-A smashes
> The audience guy standing there and almost crumpling with emotion when Shenmue III was mentioned... pure gold
> ...but why did Sony get to reveal it? Why is it a PS4 console exclusive? And they're going to make an epic Shenmue game in around 18 months? It was an incredible reveal but there are so many oddities surrounding it, too
> Big-hitters like CoD and Battlefront were great focuses by Sony... and Uncharted 4 looked terrific
> The Last Guardian is going to actually maybe probably definitely be released :o

Apparently the Hitman that was shown is out 8th December according to PCGamer. It's a packed Christmas.

The few weeks from the end of October to middle of November certainly are.

Nothing new there though.

Majestic. Probably can't justify another headset, but I definitely need a second controller.

I do think its a bit rich people complaining about a lack of Sony exclusive titles in 2015 when the year is already packed as gooseberry fool and who cares if they ride the high on their third party stuff? Microsoft spent years riding third party exclusivity deals instead of making exclusives. Hell, the last few years of the 360's life cycle was an absolute joke.

Sony's conference was great though. Very concise and games games games. I would have maybe moved things about for maximum impact as it lost steam with Batman. Still, Uncharted 4 looks strawberry floating insane. Horizon stole the show for me though. Looks like it could be something really special. MS put on a good show though but I must admit its hard to get as hyped when they pimp the big four out again and again (Halo, Gears, Forza, Fable) that Keiji Inafune game was the best they shown.

Good time to be a gamer though. The intense competition between the big 3 benefits us the most

There was that Vue stuff in there too, but thankfully they seemed to learn from their last presser (PSEx?) and didn't stay on it for too long. Some TV I don't mind, just not TV! TV! TV!
