If you’re the type that likes to switch your Home avatar to “running man” in front of the big TV screen in Home Square and then do nothing else for an hour, you’ll be happy to know that the Home team are planning ways to allow you to use your own music. “We’re looking at just this,” says TedTheDog. “A means of allowing you to play your own music to just yourself within Home.”

Yes, it’s only to yourself, but at least that’ll mean you won’t have to sit with the same 10 second looped advert as your dancing backdrop, it’ll be like an iPod party. But if you’re expecting to ever be streaming your music to others in Home, you’ve got a long wait coming. “We know music would be a very good thing,” TedTheDog continues, “[but] as you say, playing music to others is broadcasting and a licensing minefield and will take far longer if its [sic] at all possible.”

The much-promised picture uploading is still an issue too, apparently. “Picture frames were more a moderation concern but I believe we’ll be better able to deal with this issue in the future once certain tools are available to the moderators. Therefore that policy can be reviewed then.”

Didn't they say originally that you could listen to music and watch films from your HDD in Home? :fp:

The worst thing is that the tech is there in Motorstorm PR where your custom soundtrack plays online to all in a game if you are the host :fp:

I'm pretty sure they said you could sit and watch films or listen to music in your pad with friends, though I don't know if it had to be ones you'd downloaded via PSN.

I only entered this thread to say how shocked I am that it's reached 28 pages considering how utterly pointless home is.

It's nice to have the thread to poke fun at Home though.

The "Warhawk Command Center" will be added to PlayStation Home this week, confirmed Sony during today's Destination PlayStation event. This new game space allows Warhawk fans to plan new strategies together. This is one of the first game spaces to have been revealed for Home -- we're glad to see it finally going live.

Just thought I'd post this for the LOLs:

Sony has announced that over 20 million people have registered a PlayStation Network account, and that 4 million of those use PlayStation Home.

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/sony- ... -psn-users

Let's see that again...

4 million of those use PlayStation Home

4 million of those use PlayStation Home

4 million of those use PlayStation Home

Home's progress since launch:

I think it's safe to say that of the 4 million who downloaded it, Home is currently being used by about 4 of them.

Capcom is clearly a big fan of Home, as it continues to lead the charge with the launch of the awesome-looking Resident Evil 5 space later today.

But a Capcom rep promises there's plenty more cool stuff in the pipeline. "This is just the tip of the iceberg. You'll definitely be needing to come in Home more often. We have lots of cool stuff coming in the very near future," they teased via the PS Blog.

As we reported last month, the Resi space launching today will be themed around one of the game's Africa set environments, with costumes for Chris and other characters appearing in the clothes stores.

There aren't any guns or murderous mentalists - just random blokes doing the running man for no reason, and crowding around the one female avatar trying to find the 'cop a feel' option.

So how much shall we bet that Europe won't get this update? Just like Warhawk last week.

I tried out Home the other day.

I wanted to go bowling. It said there were no bowling lanes available. I turned the PS3 off.

Seems the Resi 5 area is up on the Euro Home and has free Resi clothes in the mall.

So that Warhawk thing is a Warhawk themed room with an interactive map where you can plan strategy. I can't see how that will work unless the strategy bridges into the main game, and people won't follow it anyway. Aside from that you get a quick launch.

Can't say I'm excited.

However, Warhawk is going on sale. Will that happen in Europe? If so I might download the game.

In the mall you say? A perfect place for mindless zombies to roam around aimlessly..................

The world’s first console-based Alternate Reality Game starts today in PlayStation Home.

Called Xi , the adventure takes place in a series of secret areas in Home – and beyond – changing day by day, week by week, in real time. Anyone with a PLAYSTATION 3 can join in the fun for free – in English, French, Italian, German or Spanish.

To discover the mystery of Xi, simply log on to PlayStation Home and look for the graffiti on the wall in the main square. Find that, and all will be revealed….
