Never got the Playstation love if Im honest. My cousin had the original playstation and I played a bunch of Tekken and Gran Turismo on it but nothing else really caught my eye. The PS2 just seemed more of the same there wasnt much on it that interested me. Weirdly I have owned a PSP and a Vita but never a Sony home console, I appreciate how huge they were for gaming but when I see people listing off the great games they loved on PS2 I just dont get it, for me there was better on other machines. Still, theres no doubting its popularity or impact and that PS2 slim was a superbly sleek machine.

For me the love is mainly about how they managed to combine the Japanese quirkyness with a system that appealed to EVERYONE.

Games like Gran Turismo, WipEout, Metal Gear Solid, Last of Us and, recently, God of War sold gaming to a wide and mature audience where as, previously, gamers grew out of their Nintendo/Sega and ditched the hobby

Also those exclusives that couldn't be missed out on like Tekken, Resident Evil, ICO, SOTC, Uncharted etc

They were multiplatform, but the PS2 hosted some of the best games ever made:

- TimeSplitters 2
- Star Wars Battlefront II
- Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3
- SSX 3
- Resident Evil 4
- GTA III/Vice City/San Andreas
- Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory
- Beyond Good and Evil

But then it has just as impressive a collection of exclusives:

- Ico and Shadow of the Colossus
- Metal Gear Solid 2 and 3
- Jak and Daxter
- Ratchet and Clank
- Sly Raccoon
- Klonoa 2: Lunatea's Veil
- Rayman 2: Revolution
- Dark Chronicle
- Zone of the Enders

And that's just my personal choices. You could list good games on the console for pages!

You forgot Kingdom Hearts II.

The PS1 served its purpose well after the PS2 launched for my family. It wasn't until after the Slim launched that we finally got one. I think the Gamecube was got on launch, though.
As for memories, Kingdom Hearts 2 and Star Wars Battlefront 2 were the obvious ones, with the fifth and sixth Harry Potter games also being highlights. Can't really remember much more than that, but those are definitely the more instrumental ones for obvious reasons.

Was loyal to the dreamcast until sega pulled the plug and then began my allegience to Sony Corporation Entertainment Europe or SCEE. The PlayStation 2 gave me some wonderful memories like Gran Turismo 3's amazing graphics, finding a gem in GTA3 months after release and it being one of my favourite games of all time. Then came Vice City and San Andreas, which I fondly remember during my university days. A great console, I feel it probably pipped PS3, however the PS4 is the best console of all time imo for its consistent array of exclusives and just being the best console in all respects.

Shadow of the Colossus with its cardboard sleeve gives me memories as does waiting at GAME to pick up the latest Pro Evolution Soccer demo.

For someone who's so fervently pro-Sony, you would think you'd at least get their name right.

Sony COMPUTER Entertainment Europe.

As with the PS1 I was a little late to the party, not getting mine till 2004 when I bought it with money from my 21st. Loved it though. So many great games and it was a fantastic bit of kit.

Apologies to GRCade and more importantly to Sony for this error. I will buy a PS4 game tomorrow to prove my loyalty.

We demand a Youtube apology, the closure of your social media accounts and a personal letter sent to Kaz Hirai begging forgiveness.

Ofcourse I will arrange for the apology to Kaz. I will present my apology in the original Ridge Racer disk case, which I feel I have no right to own anymore. :(

My experience of the PS2 starts and ends with MGS2. I was a GCN owner and depended on my parents for all my gaming needs, and they weren't about to buy me a PS2 as well, but my brother got one and I played MGS2 on it for a couple of hours. It was gooseberry fool, so I gave up.

Why do people call it GCN? Game cube Nintendo, it doesn't make sense.

May as well call it DOL

"It should be common sense to just accept the message Nintendo are sending out through their actions."

I won't lie I got confused when people say "apologise" to Kaz because that's also what I call my boyfriend...

I'm tired I guess :fp:

Anyway! When I'm still Nintendo fan I do admire the PlayStation consoles, but PlayStation 2 is where it shines. Lot of games on it has made my early to late teens more amazing, and it's no surprise I end up enjoying the games on PS3/4.

There's too many to pick from but if I only have to pick one PS2 game to be favourite then it would've be Yakuza 2.

Think it's due to Neo Geo Colour having NGC first.

I do agree with you though.
