Same here, I started the Special Edition but ended up sending it back. Seriously, if this is the real deal then (barring any Nintendo surprises) this is my biggest announcement of E3.

In terms of new game announcements that didn't get near the ridiculously high standards of the last few years but they still showed a lot of good looking games. Maybe they were afraid of a backlash if they went with another round of super early announcements as there was definitely a murmur of discontent after last year's show about how far away the new games were. That being said, I've no problem If E3 becomes more focused on highlighting how good the next 12 months are going to be.

-Days Gone looked a lot more interesting to me this year. The zombie swarm tech they showed last year looked cool but I was afraid it'd lose its impact each time you encountered it.

-God of War continues to be gorgeous

-Marvel Vs Capcom looks like another one of those games and I'm fine with that

-Spiderman looks like it's got bags of potential depending on how scripted everything is.

-CoD WW2 looks absolutely grim. But appropriately grim.

-The Gran Turismo trailer looked good but I can see why they kept it off the main show. Unfortunately for them I can't see GT and it's slower dev cycle bettering Turn 10s iterative approach to improving Forza 7 which looks like properly great.

The problem with Days Gone is that there still isn't a release date for it (at least not that I saw).

Anyway.

Do we think that a lack of Battlefront 2 at the Sony conference means there is probably no VR content in the game? Seems that if there was some it would have shown up.

OK conference but a bit surprised at the lack of new game announcements. Interested in GOW/Days Gone and maybe the COD/Destiny campaigns.

I reckon it's gonna be late 2018/early 2019 title, going by how they handle other big releases. So with it being that far off it's kind of pointless sticking a date on it.

Suddenly realised that there was no mention of Death Stranding. I know it's a way off but I'd expected a brief mention. Wasn't it at E3 last year that it was first announced?

They had said before E3 Death Stranding would not be appearing.

Ah, okay. I guess development is still in the early stages... probably looking at a 2019 launch.

I thought it was weird how they basically gooseberry fool on their own history by talking about how their games used to be about collecting cars etc and now they want competition by going for this esports/iRacing type model which will alienate the massive casual fanbase who made GT successful.

Ah, cool - thanks, HSH. Although I'm starting to feel that more was mentioned in this pre-show than in the actual show  .

There was at least as much new stuff announced in the hour before the conference than the actual conference yeah.

I think it's a massive shame that 3 of the best racing games of the past 20 years (Burnout, PGR, TOCA/GRID) are all absent. Some are back but clearly now made on a greatly reduced budget (DiRT, WRC). And then there are others such as Destruction Derby and Road Rash which have been dead and buried for donkey's years.

Even a terrible conference is worth staying up for, but I regret doing so for this 100%. Just a trailer reel with no presentation, and a lot of stuff didn't make the cut so was thrown into the pre-show. They could have swapped any trailer on the show with one on the pre-show and it wouldn't have made a difference.

Yep I bet the people in the crowd were annoyed as they may as well have stayed home and got the exact same experience as the venue itself added pretty much nothing.
