Remote Play never worked consistently for me.

Mrs Sw can watch TV. I can game on the sofa.

I've just moved in with my partner so this might be a good option. Will be interested to see how people find it, I'm going to wait for opinions before I leap in.

Yeah, I'm eager to hear about how this performs "in the real world", too. It's a device that - if it all works without any lag! - I think that I'd enjoy.

Reviews are out.

Mostly very positive.

Lag free.

You can connect your phone to it, other side of the world and play your PlayStation 5 wherever you are.

That’s cool.

If by lag you mean input latency, it absolutely does have input latency. 7:48 on the following video shows that there is definitely increased input latency which makes twitch shooters like COD pretty much unplayable

Use my backbone with my Samsung S23 Ultra and third party PS remote play app for £5 currently otherwise would probably get this. Like sitting playing couch / tv combo.

Works very well indeed so imagine this will be the same. Only caveat are the likes of COD but common sense would tell you that anyway that this doesn't work well.

Its excellent playing Spiderman 2, FF16 on the phone

Got mine this morning, set up was really easy. My network at home is not great but managed to play for a bit with no issues. Visuals and audio were excellent.

This is definitely the most comfortable portable so far.

My partner was watching Netflix so I played some EAFC online next to her. Really impressed with this device. The streaming is absolutely spot on.

Can't use it in a public Wifi space as it doesn't have a web browser to see the terms and conditions etc so can't use in starbucks/airports/trains/libraries etc.

Seems like an oversight to me.

If you're using it in your house only you can get a 1440p/144Hz 27" monitor for about the same price or less.

Nobody should be looking to use the device on public wifi; the signal just won't be good (fast) enough. This is a device for using in your own home; laying back on the sofa playing Spider-Man 2 whilst your partner is watching EastEnders on the TV.

Apples and oranges. The goal of this device is to allow the user to game portably whilst someone else is using the main TV.

Well, thankfully my missus doesn't watch ANY soaps but she does watch a lot of Streaming shows which she watches on her Ipad Pro, plus we have Sky Q on 3 TV's in the house (main bedroom and daughters) so.... if I want to play games I can when I want. I don't even play my Switch in handheld mode when I'm at home. :shifty:

So, FOR ME I'd rather a monitor to utilize the VRR but if Suzz really has no access to main TV then this works, I just have no idea why it has no cloud streaming...

Is it true that there’s no bluebooth connectivity for using wireless earphones, e.g. air pods? I want to blissfully ignore Selling Sunset on the couch through all my senses.

Only if you spend £200 buying Sony's own propriety headsets :fp:

There is a 3.5mm jack though if you have wired headphones, which is better than nothing.

I don't get why some folk are getting mad about the Portal.

> If you want to lay back on your sofa and stream your PS5 games to a portable device... the Portal does this.

> If you don't want to lay back on your the sofa and stream your PS5 games to a portable device... you don't need the Portal.

> If you want to lay back on your sofa and stream your PS5 games to a tablet rather than the Portal... you can do so.

> If you would like Sony to make a full, handheld PS5 then contact them to let them know. You don't need to be angry about the Portal.
