On the plus side, at least the weather's good. On the downside, a lot of people are off for Easter & would no doubt like to go online.

Didn't they give a free game away for that? Sony must do the same then.

Still get get online. :x

If an outside source is responsible then they need to strawberry floating grow up because they're certainly not endearing me to their 'cause'. In fact I couldn't give two gooseberry fools about it.

PSN is free.

A common misconception. While it is true there is no subscription to access Playstation Network and many games are playable for free, it's also true that a great many premium services and access to games requires you be logged into PSN to access them, when PSN undergoes down time of any length, those services cannot be accessed.

For example, any attempt to play DC Universe Online today will not be possible. DC Universe Online isn't "free", many players have paid in excess of £40 to play this title and yet because of the down time, they will not be able to.

The same is also true of Lovefilm, content and features, such as Cloud Saving, accessed through the premium Playstation Plus service, Qrocity, et-al.

Over the years, Live and PSN have gone down about the same number of times. One I pay for, one I don't. I can wait, no biggie.

And after all that PSN is still free.

I don't think they care either. No one supported them when they tried to protest properly, so they've gone back to this.

I don't remember Live being down for this length of time, plus the date fail for the old PS3 systems that was well over a day it was down.

Who knows how long this attack is going to go on for, if these people are persistant enough it could be ages.

Then why do it? They'll get even less support now. My daughter got a PSP Go for her birthday (yesterday) and I'm unable to set up an account and download games for it. If anyone is responsible for this outage they are just pissing a lot of people off who don't work for Sony. If that was their aim, mission accomplished.

Anonymous are denying they have anything to do with it. Some people reckon Sony are running a trial run of bringing down their own network and fixing it to prepare for such an attack, others say it is due to additional security measures that have gone wrong.

Many more users don't use any of these things and for these people, the service is free. Maybe not free for the minority, but to say it being free is a common misconception is nonsense.
