Sony teases “big announcements” for Japanese games at E3 2017

Sony Interactive Entertainment America president and CEO Shawn Layden is teasing “some big announcements” for Japanese games at E3 2017.

Speaking to Time, Layden said that Japanese publishers are coming back to console, citing recent releases like Resident Evil 7: biohazard, Nioh, NieR: Automata, Persona 5, and Final Fantasy XV as examples.

“That’s super important for us,” Layden said. “I think a lot of Japanese developers lost their way chasing the mobile games yen, if you will, but they’re coming back to console in a major way. And speaking of, we’ll have some big announcements at E3 in that precise vein.”

A new Outrun would be nice but i doubt sega has the cash for the Ferrari license anymore.

Most Japanese devs who chased mobile are already on PS. One released a major current gen game but nothing since. Yup, Konami's coming back. Imagine that, Konami *and* Kojima both doing exclusives for PS. :lol:

I couldn't care less about the brand, just give me a new Outrun that doesn't become unavailable when the license runs out.

Yeah, it pretty much does.

If Sony are putting the money up it might make sense. OutRun 3 would be my automatic game of the show.

Exactly what they did in Yakuza 0. I'm pretty sure it was the same car as OG OutRun, just sans prancing horse insignia.

Hope it's something that's actually going to come out soon. Two years later and FF7 remake and Shenmue HD are nowhere to be seen.
