I dunno about you, but I like to have the option to play my videogames for more than 8 or 9 minutes a pop.

That's one lap of the 'ring amirite?

Yeah, if you were taking the scenic route

One of the ars writers actually said that the pixel grid pattern has been pretty much burned onto his eyes, when he is in low light or closes his eyes he can see the pattern. Bad times.

DK3 is using a higher res screen again to counter this, but that of course means more powerful hardware required to run it at a rock steady 75fps.

I think it was dk1 but I can confirm this is the worst thing but it's still awesome.

I mean when I tried oculus I think it was a dk1, I'm not sure, and the pixel grid was really visible bit it didn't matter that much, like people say it's more like a scan line effect. It did have head tracking and stuff.

I want one but it would be money wasted when I really should be looking at a cpu upgrade ready for the consumer version.

I too would like one but I don't think that the resolution would be good enough for flight sims, which is what my primary use for it would be.

Well I say flight sims I mean DCS :slol:

If you want one you are best off waiting for at least consumer release 1, maybe even 2.

Its not a trivial amount of money for a product that is for development purposes, and that absolutely will be obsolete within months (it is already, but you cant buy that yet).

If you want a proper consumer experience rather than a hacky, unfinished ballache, then you really are better off waiting for the consumer version.

I'm definitely going to get one. But as with some other people I think my PC needs a few upgrades before it can handle it properly. Looking at a new CPU and GPU at least.

Not sure. It had the webcam thing at least. The motion sickness is completely gone for me with it and the increased resolution and refresh rate make it much easier to see. Other people still got motion sickness though

Still needs maor pixels though.

It depends, not all game types would be compatible and some will work better than others.

Imagine playing FIFA or PES, instead of the standard view, your view would be like you're sat in the stands, rather than relying on a radar, you just glance right to see what's further up the pitch. It's just an example, but it's an example of how VR could fit into any genre.

However, I couldn't see VR working in fast-paced multiplayer FPS games like COD or Halo, running and jumping all over the place would just make you sick, regardless of latency you'd just feel a complete disconnect and become disoriented.

I think on PC it'll grow slowly (it's already begun), where as on PS4 Sony will only get one chance so they'd need to get something like 20m units sold in 3 years to be deemed a success, similar to Kinect on 360. Oculus will have the luxury of being able to release a new iteration every several months, Sony will get one chance to get it right.

I think it'll be more successful in game-like experiences, exploration with little in the way of challenge and more in the way of immersion.
