Dark Souls: Prepare to cry

2nd attempt at getting past them and the one I'm fighting hits my shield then promptly falls to his death.

It's nothing smart or fancy but I'll strawberry floating take it. Walked through the fog, first room I enter has a bonfire. Lit, rest and save n quit. I'm not pushing my luck any further tonight.

There's no need to get to a bonfire to save the game. The game auto-saves every few seconds.

I know. It just seemed like a good place to leave it for the night.

I've looked up that bit since and it does seem to be thought of as one of the harder parts of the game. I got very lucky.

I got past the archers on my second go, the first time I fell off trying to attack one and the second time my running was quick enough to outrun the arrows on the way up, the one to the right missed me and I twattes him with the Zweihander

I think once your past the archers you're past the worst Anor Londo has to offer bar Laurel and Hardy.

I think up until that point I'd been wearing Havel set thinking defence was the way to go

If I play it again, I'll be light and rolling all over the shop thanks to my Artorias training.

Though I know I've got O&S coming up so I'll be summoning the gooseberry fool out of that fight. Not looking forward to it.

The iron gollum was a pushover and so are the giant Knights with fog ring and baiting them out with the sniper crossbow I picked up from falling down *there*.

Already picked up 2 giant halberds and a giant shield too which is pretty lucky.

Reckon I might be a little overpowered now. Lvl 42 strength/dex build. My black Knight sword does those Knights about 570 damage and and they go down in three hits..

Your probably not overpowered, the black knight sword just trades everything in for raw damage, personally I don't like the moveset and feel it takes a lot of fun out of the game. Def not overpowered if your trying to balance strength and dex, most builds go for one or the other, not a balance between the two. Seems like a waste of points. I did O&S at level 50ish for the first time.

Havel Set is after the archers. With the Ring of favour and protection and Havel's Ring, you're fast enough to wear Smough's armor.

I switched to dex a little while ago and pumped up black leather armour. I only wanted enough strength early game to wield a few weapons to get ahead, as I picked up the bks off the first black Knight. For most the game I've used halberd. Strength is just 20 although my last stat was endurance.

It's not such a slow weapon after building the needed stats, and it does scale with dex well (B). But I agree it's not very interesting.

I'm working on iato and some other weapons. Halberd is +9 at the moment.

yeah the narrow corridors made it very frustrating for me with a parry shield

Senns is alright.

I found it depends on your loadout.

When I had a 100% physical block shield and decent poise I had no problem.
Trying to parry on a ledge and getting stunned is frustrating however.

In Dark Souls progress news I made it past O&S on my third attempt. I was SO close to doing them first time (With Solaire and a summoned player), but I lost my Solaire summon and then Giant Smough focused all of his fatman rage on me. Was so pissed off as he only had a fifth of his life bar left at most.

Still, made it past them. Then sauntered down to Darkroot Garden where I took out Sif on my first try, same with Moonlight Butterfly (She was so bloody easy).

I've been reading up and this seems to be a good point to do side-questy stuff so I've just started the Painted World. After that I think I'm gonna head to New Londo Ruins, which I believe is the next destination in the main quest.

Love this game.

Not to get too ahead of myself, but once I finish this I was going to start Dark Souls II, but I might do Demons Souls first. Any thoughts?

I found Dark Souls 2 to be really disappointing. I never finished it, got to the Shrine of Amana and I'd had enough. Demon Souls is meant to be awesome.
