Indeed. But if I were to recommend Demon's Souls to someone without the internet I would say no, it really isn't the same game.

I'm actually looking forward to playing it offline. No doubt I'll go online now and again, but primarily I'll be playing it offline. I just don't like the idea of people invading my game and trying to kill me! Yeah, it may be a feature of DS but griefing is still griefing and it gets on my tits.

It doesn't happen too often, but it's the way you can get false warnings from people that make that little special.

I wouldn't worry to much about people invading your game, I've put ten or so hours into it (stuck on Flamefucker, haven't been back in about a month  ) and not once has someone invaded. Don't know whether it gets more frequent as you level up though.

Do you often contemplate the complexity of life?

Personally, a little less 'hardcore' (read: banana splitish and unnecessarily difficult) would ensure my interest in this.

Then lets hope you get to keep playing the 98% of other games released these days which fall into that category, and those of us who loved the challenge of Demon's Souls with every fibre of our being are catered for here.

Are you usually a ghost? You need to be in physical body form to be invaded.

You'll be in soul form (dead) most of the time anyway and no one can invade your game while you are in soul form. They also can't invade if you have defeated the boss in that level so really it doesn't happen often enough to worry about and when someone does invade they will be a lower level than you anyway.

Source? Everything they've said so far seems to suggets this is as close to a sequel that's on the cards right now.

You could also just sign out of PSN, which is what I did when I wasn't in the mood for some strawberry floater ruining 3 hours of progress through a level.

Ketchup actually.
Nah just kidding, obviously there is no proof yet but I'm confident enough to state it as fact and look like an idiot if it turns out to be false. Considering it's success in the West i imagine a big E3 reveal is what they're waiting for and the reasons for their denial/deflecting comments in response to the leaks/rumours that it was already in development.

Yep whatever next, I'll probably be claiming uncharted 3 is in development before you know it.

I actually prefer the idea of a new game in the similar style rather than a direct sequel. Change things up so we don't know what to expect as that is what was so appealing about Demon's Souls.

Demon's Souls basically created it's own genre so it's great to see other games in the same ilk.

I was calling for this in June.

viewtopic.php?p=1435692#p1435692

Sony didn't give a gooseberry fool about Demon's Souls until it became a huge sleeper hit. Namco Bandai and Atlus showed their faith, put their money where their mouth is and they will now reap the benefits :D Justice.

Look, there's no doubting the brilliance of Demon's Souls but completely alienating the majority of players by increasing the difficulty to ridiculous levels is just silly. It comes straight from the Itagaki school of thinking, which is never a good thing.

Simple solution: add a difficulty selection. Your fellow challenge-loving players can still enjoy the harsher difficulties, while the rest of us can still play it and enjoy it.

Melatonin is spot on in this case. Also using your own example: if you go against the Itagaki school of thinking, you may just end up with the 'Sigma' games (I'm talking strictly difficulty here and if you have played every current gen Ninja Gaiden then you will know exactly what I mean).
