I'm pumped for this and I haven't even played Demon's Souls yet!

Why not just call it Demon's Souls 2?

Sony owns the Demon's Souls license.

No, I mean taking out the whole online singleplayer mechanic because people on Silver couldn't use it.

I'm not familiar with Demon Souls; although heard a lot of good about it. How does this online single-player work?

Basically, the whole game is an online game, even when you're playing alone. You can see the ghosts of other players at your skill level run around, fight and whatnot. You can also see where they all died, how they died, and any tips they left you. That alone is a significant part of the game, but not nearly as much as the fact that at any time in any level, any other player can invade your world and try to kill you. And, in one of the stages, the end boss is played by another random player. Also, if you're struggling at a particular bit, can summon another random player to assist you, but you will only be able to interact with them on a level that you can interact with typical friendly AI (which is what they are supposed to be, just being controlled by a stranger).

I mean, if they have a similar system in place for this, they could just treat silver members like PS3 players of Demon's Souls with no internet connection, and it'll all be gravy. I just hope they don't start cutting some stuff to make it a more consistent experience for everyone with an online 360. There might also be a clash between encouraging players to actively strawberry float up other people's game and Live's rep system, I suppose.

Fable II's Orbs worked in a similar way. Orbs were representations of other players moving around in their game (set to people from your friends list or randomers) - you could trade stuff with them and voice chat within a certain radius, and invite them to join your game. You could see player gamer pictures inside the Orbs too :)

Those orbs in Fable 2 were unintentionally hilarious. All the ones flowing about with a Cole Train gamerpic

I've no idea. It didn't stop it being a feature in the game in any case :)

Indeed. But if I were to recommend Demon's Souls to someone without the internet I would say no, it really isn't the same game.
