An asian director or nothing. The better option being nothing.

Because the game is cinematic enough. I mean, nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo, that series is sacred, one of the few games to be artistically pure. Resident Evil and all the others were asking to be re-made/reinterpreted/ruined by talentless hacks several times over, but this, this would stain it's authenticty as much as it did to The Wire after I was told they discussed it on GMTV.

Why do people keep using the word 'cinematic' to describe the game? And like it's a good thing? Cinematic implies cinema, movies, films, and the kind of storytelling movies are good at. SotC had great storytelling. Storytelling that works in videogames is not cinematic. It is tightly woven into the fabric of the gameplay so it feels like it's unfolding because of your actions and not like the game is just waiting for you to get to the right spot to deliver the next cutscene. That is not cinematic.

Pictures are a part of cinema as well. It's epic, there's a grandeur to it, the camera tilts below you to capture the scene in its most dramatic, intense and cinematic form. It'd be plain and uninvolving if the camera didn't swoop around and instead just stayed fixed above your position. More than once, I'd delay slaying the creature and instead just run away from it but move the camera to face the front of me so I could capture the moment. It's one of a few games where everything on screen at all times could be photographed, framed, and put on a wall. It might as well be interactive art.

Also in Super Mario 64 I'd change to a side-on view when doing a long jump. I don't want to just play the game, but frame the angles because it looks cool.

Please, please, please don't let this happen. :( And for people saying that Ico would be better as a film, there's already one kind of like it called The King and the Mockingbird.

I don't see the problem with it, too much. If it raises awareness of the game to the mass market, who cares what the film does?
It might spur the lads on to get the new game out quicker :o

I think this is how it should be done, although It wont be done this way as Hollywood will surely stick their noses in it.

The story would be the same, slay maybe four or five colossi in order to ressurect the dead love. It would mostly be about one man and his horse. There would obviously have to be a script so the movie would focus on the Wanderers coversations with his horse and how they work together to take down the Colossi. With the focus on these two characters, the end would be pretty damn sad, having Agro fall off the collapsing bridge and tossing the hero to safety. But he should die, no coming back with a broken leg.

There is obviously huge potential for this, as long as they focus on Wander, his horse and the Colossi and do not introduce more characters, as Hollywood seems to like doing. Thats how I feel at least.

They should have a badass Rocky-style montage where Wander trains for the battles, eating fruit and lizards to get stronger while running along the beach with Agro, before having a playful splash in the water. Then a second montage to cover the battles against six/seven of the colossi.

I'd watch it.

Artsy videogame with no dialogue turned into a film by two talentless Hollywood hacks. Sounds brilliant.

There is a silver lining that it may raise Team Ico's profile, as Buff suggests. But on the flipside, a terrible movie could do some nasty damage too. I pray they leave this well alone, personally.

This would work as a 13 part Anime series, each 30 mins long. It would be cheap as hell to make as you'd only need one VOA. All the dialogue could be internal, with Wanda narrating and introspecting in his head.
