Well I've lasted longer on this than I did the previous 2 AC games :toot: Completed first assassination mission and it was a mix of meh and hilarious. The hilarious moment came during my first attempt when I seemingly alerted everyone in the base and then proceeded to run away. I ran up a building and as I panned the camera I saw the outlines of a procession of guards (must have been, like, 20 of 'em) running the route I just took

edit: Really impressed with the implementation of the eagle and how you can just chill flying about as protag makes his way to location on horseback. Oh and I also like how Bayek will automatically change his route if you alter the destination on world map.

It's funny that I can remember people joking about grinding in Assassins Creed now it is literally what you have to do.

I'm enjoying this as I do still like the Ubisoft open world model of completing tasks to tick off objectives and improve skills. The story hasn't grabbed me at all but it is fun to just wonder around the beautiful world and enjoy the much improved combat. It's just a bit shallow. It's such a shame that they've completely abandoned the premise of the original AC games of gradually building Intel about a victim, the crowd mechanics and being part of the assassins guild. It reminds me more of a Shadow of Morder than AC.

Not that they couldn't have a found a way to include more traditional AC stuff, but given how they're handling the emergence of the Assassins it kind of makes sense that it's not all there from the get go. And I really like how said emergence is coming about in a natural, almost incidental way.

Really enjoying the game now :toot: Last kill was the Snake.

Not having the guild makes sense but they seem to have dropped the mechanic of building up info about a target from the gameplay. I'm not sure that's necessarily bad as the Far Cry style of scouting a base and working out a plan you take everyone down or sneek in and out is very satisfying. It's just a shame there is nothing uniquely AC about this.

It's a shame that AC3 has burned them on the new world as people are much more accepting of an AC game world that isn't full of buildings now.

This is great. Bit overhwleming to start with. So much to see and do compared to other games. I think AC needed a massive shake up because well, apart from BF it has been shite for a while.

Just finished the prologue. Looking forward to getting into this

I was a bit delicate yesterday and thought I would do a bit of levelling up to take my mind off the pain. I spent my time opening up more of the map, doing the towers and investigating the question marks. This is really, really good. I'm really impressed with how they've fleshed out the world and made some really interesting diversions and side quests, the combat is simple but fun and there are there are rewards for exploration.

I know that BOTW is a better game but I'm enjoying this just as much.

Is it bad that one of the first things I did when I got outside was shoot a cat through the head with my bow? To be fair it was a good shot and I got it right in the back of the head so at least it didn't see it coming :shifty: .
I thought "Wow, a nice cat" as it wandered about, then I got a mission to hunt stuff and I really object to hunting wildlife so I thought if the wildlife must die then the cats are fair game as well.

This look's bloody marvellous on my new TV and the One X with HDR going  .

I've also just started it on the X. Only a couple of hours in, but I'm out in a huge wide sandy desert and I'm seeing mirage's. Which I thought was an awesome touch. Followed them for a bit, but think I lost them, so gonna have to try that bit again.

Is animal taming worth the points? It sounds like a cool ability but thinking about every beast versus soldier encounter I've witnessed, I am starting to think it'd be a waste of 3 points. (The only time I've seen a beasts be victorious is when they take on non soldier NPC's.)

I don’t think it was worth it but if you want to get the trophy and just get it later.

I spent on better ability first.

I still have a couple of targets to go, so my opinion may yet change, but this is the best AC yet. I prefer the protag and setting of AC II, and the boatplay of BF, Origins though is the best complete package. And the openworld looks stunning, even on a standard PS4.

Ta. Not interested in the trophies. Can't recall what I spent all the points on but one of them was the corpse poison.

Got to the first major area. The Sahara I assume. Done my first pyramid. Decent. Im under levelled as strawberry float, the animal mash me in to bites and the human enemies in the settlements absolutely massacre me, any tips?

Spend a bit of time getting familiar with the combat, it's pretty simple but just learning a dodge/shield break/flurry combo makes it a lot easier. Get good with the bows, they make things a lot easier, especially hunting.

Also just explore a bit, find hidden stuff and new areas, climb towers, etc.

Just did Gift from the Gods - Totally unexpected. The mount could have been amazing but they gave it 4 legs :fp: and so now it just looks weird.

Followed your advice, done some more side quests, levelled him up, upgraded some weapons, fought in an arena, this is a very very good game, havent enjoyed one this much since Black Flag.

Well done Ubi
