Turns out it actually doesn't do anything at all.

South Park: The Fractured But Whole's race choice won't *actually* affect difficulty, says Ubisoft

We reached out to the game's publisher, Ubisoft, who had no official statement but confirmed that it's just a joke. It doesn't affect combat difficulty or any other aspect of gameplay difficulty. The slider changes skin tone, but it's purely cosmetic.

Not sure if anyone else has even got this, but is anyone else getting an issue where the audio falls way out of sync when characters are talking?

I'm playing!

Up to Night 1. It's crass, puerile and vulgar like most South Park stuff - but it's entertaining enough as well. There's enough good jokes to put up with focus on poo and farts.

Combat's getting more interesting - I'm now a Blaster/Psi. The grid system does make you think and is different enough to not feel like a rehash of the first game. Kyle/Jimmy/Craig are my team right now

That drug dealer mission though

I haven't watched the show for years (maybe around the time of the film), not particularly through choice - it just sort of slipped off my radar.

Anyway, I kind of want to try this. It might be a stupid question, but how much does the game rely on knowing the show? I don't expect it to have changed much, but I'm just wondering if there are many new characters I don't know, and if the game uses in-jokes that will not connect with me.

Um...hard to know when you quit. I don't think there's many newer ones (so far)

Have you seen any of "The Coon" episodeS? Last weeks was a direct set up but is completely unecessary

Wasn't the film out in 1999?

If you've not watched in that long, there's a lot you won't get, but they're smaller references, typically the items you find while raiding cupboards will be references to objects in episodes. There will be characters you don't know, but it's not like any of them are particularly complex or need a huge amount of back story.

FYI Mysterion is Kenny. It's about the only time he gets to talk normally.

Cheers guys. No, The Coon is a mystery to me (though I think I'm safe to assume who it is!). I guess I'll wait for this to go cheap. Maybe try and catch up on some of the show in the meantime.

If you're interested - try The Stick of Truth. Older so less new stuff, and also less corssover with shown (the superheroes have featured a fair bit)

And it'll be cheap

I was considering that. But then, it comes free with this, so now I don't know what to do. (In reality, I do know. I'm going to end up buying this before the day is out.)

I thought that was only as a pre order bonus?

PS Store says "Purchase the Fractured But Whole to download The Stick of Truth for free until 31st January 2018."

And I believe the code is in boxed copies...

But yeah limited time offer Rinks - get to it!

As much as anything can these days, yes!

I thought it was too, but then I noticed that it was still included on the store, like Hexx said.

I think the Towelie stuff was pre-order only.

The towelie stuff is annoying as strawberry float, but then again, I guess that's the point.

Ordered this yesterday, and Amazon delivery in the evening!

Enjoying so far, but it's very like Stick of Truth so far. I guessed the code on Cartman's basement first time, and Cartman appeared on screen accusing me of cheating

At that bit at the moment and I've turned it off twice now for being bullshit.

It wouldn't be too bad if it at least went back to the person whose turn was interrupted, but no, you lose the turn entirely, meaning it's possible to get completely strawberry floated over very quickly.

Yeah, it's some cheap bullshit. I went and changed my move set around just to get through it, but it's still a crap mechanic.

Lucien wrote:How is the battling in this difficulty wise? I found Stick of Truth super easy on hard (first play-through) because the mage class at least was basically broken.

It's certainly not difficult. I'm playing on medium difficulty because it's the only one that's balanced, easy gives you boosts, and hard just gives the enemy extra boosts. The only challenge I've had so far has been the fight in the strip club where a character with a one hit kill move follows you across the room, and ignores turns, just attacking on a regular timer instead.
