Would have been surprised if it wasn't actually.

Not saying it doesn't look amazing graphically, its just that's what I expect now.

My concerns over the game will be to do with the gameplay and structure overall. I've yet to be convinced that they can do for Spiderman what Rocksteady did for Batman. That's what I want, a Spiderman game that doesn't just look good, but that can be honestly appraised as one of the best games in its class...not sure Insomniac have ever really done that for me.

Always a first time though.

Think I’ve only ever played two Spiderman games; one on Playstation, which I remember chiefly for some of its quotes (“I NEED to use my SPIDEY COMPASS to find the BANK!”) and also one on Xbox, which I owned and was pretty good from what I recall.

This does look impressive visually, but Spiderman’s just a bit…lame. And I don’t think I’ve ever seen any Spiderman game amount to anything more than swinging and beating people up, with terrible ‘missions’, forgettable stories, and nothing actually that great once the novelty of the first point has worn off.

If they can actually make a Spiderman game that’s got more to it, that would be good.

If any developer can do Spidey justice it's Insomniac. Sunset Overdrive was a great game and the experience of working on that will assist with making Spidey. Good thing is it's not tied to the new movie in anyway so it gives them a lot more freedom in regards to who and what they include.

I hope we see more soon, possibly PSX

Yeah, wonder if he is the main villain?

In related news, looks like Spidey might be the first in a new age of Marvel games

Last night, Sony and Marvel dropped a huge surprise: Ratchet & Clank developer Insomniac Games is making a new Spider-Man video game exclusively for PlayStation 4.

According to Jay Ong, Marvel's vice president of games, Insomniac's Spider-Man game is just the beginning for Marvel's ambitious plan to bring its superheroes to consoles.

"When I joined Marvel two years ago, I came in with a mandate to usher in a new era for Marvel Games," Ong told Polygon in an interview. "We have a treasure trove of the best superhero characters on earth. What can we do with this to create truly epic games?

"Is [Spider-Man] a signal of things to come? Oh, yes. Absolutely. And we can’t wait to tell the world about it."

Hope this is the case, would love for them to make a serious push in the games market

I wouldn't put it past them, R&C was nigh on Pixar quality.

I can't get over how incredible games look now, next-gen should be close to photorealism.

Interesting tidbit, according to the live stream with Scott Rohde and Adam Boyes, Marvel actually went to Sony and stated they wanted them to create a game that they wanted Sony to treat as they would a first party game. Not specifically a Spidey game but Spidey is what was decided on.

Hopefully this will lead to further Marvel IP's getting the AAA treatment

I wonder what a Captain America game could play like. Maybe Arkham style combat, with loads of shield reversals/counters, being able to toss it in a fight and/or solve puzzles in it. Maybe a free running mechanic too.

I was going to say that an X-Factor: Investigations game from Telltale would be strawberry floating brilliant but then remembered that's mutants.

Weirdly I think Activision have the X Men and Fantastic Four game rights. And I think they have the Spider-Man rights to the movies for another year. Marvel and licensing is always such a mess :fp:

I played the last Captain America game based on the first movie. Sega I think? It may have been because I went in with low expectations but it wasn't so bad. Probably one of the best of the more recent Marvel games anyway.

It'll be quite interesting to see how these games work moving forward. Maybe similar to the movies, different developers tackling the licences in their own ways with sometimes some crossovers. Like if they could make a Wolverine game, give that to Platinum Games which would end up as a totally different type of game to what Insomaniac will end up doing with Spider-Man. I don't really want to see them all descend into cookie cutter 3rd person action games

I was going to suggest the obvious answer of getting Capcom to make MvC4, but then I realised I'd have to do another ARcade Attacks for it so they can strawberry float off.

X-Factor Investigations would be perfect for Telltale.

I'd love to see them going into games publishing/development the same way they have with movies. The MGU. :datass:

But I'm super hyped for this now, especially if this is in-game footage. The question for all these games now though is "What PS4 is it running on? Original or Neo?"

That game, etc already exists

I've got it and it's pretty good.

That's the game. It's a bit janky in places, but for a movie tie in I thought it was good. Would have been nice to see a sequel with a bit more time spent on it.

I didn't play the Iron Man or Thor tie ins but I think they were all similar 3rd person action games. The Hulk one again could have been good if it had more time spent on it (I'd like to see Rockstar with The Hulk, open world New York City/destruction/brawler type game :datass: )

Shu tweeted earlier and confirmed everything at the Sony conference was running on standard PS4 not Neo.

I've watched this trailer tons in the last 24 hours, I hope they show more soon
