Woooo

Impressive.

God of War did it impressively and now Spider-Man. Sony's exclusive games are doing well!

I think the management of first and "second" parties this generation has been excellent, all putting out incredibly well polished titles.

They just need to sort out Gran Turismo now.

Edit: Apparently it's selling twice as fast as God of Ware

Its nice that a popular game actually deserves the sales its getting. I totally forgot insomniac made an exclusive xbox game and thought they would be going multiplatform.

This is why games need to be exclusive to a console. You wouldn’t get this level of detail and control on a multiplatform title imo.

Not sure exactly what you mean by a 'level of detail and control', but I think the Arkham games show its just as possible to do this kind of thing on multiplatform.

For me, I'm not sure if this is going to be better than Arkham Asylum. But the fact its close is quite an achievement.

Sony's games do benefit from developers only having to focus on two hardware configurations.

Spider-man, God of War, Uncharted 4 ,Horizon and Detroit are 5 of the best looking games this generation.

It looks like Last of Us 2, Death Stranding and Ghost of Tsushima will surpass the graphically too.

Only having one controller to design the game around and one piece of hardware makes optimising it a lot simpler and we will see better results. GOW and this are some of the best looking games ever made. Spider man runs so well and its just so detailed and sharp on the PS4 Pro.

Been playing through it most of the weekend and while I haven't played much of the story, it's the side stuff I've been playing, okay most of this stuff is cookie clutter typical open world activities yet it's so darn fun, it's mainly due to the fact how much bloody fun it is to swing around and be like Spider Man.

I've also been messing about with the photo mode which is awesome, making my own comic book covers is really fun.

I've been enjoying them as well. The moment I realised I could take the Landmark photos while still swinging was just  8-) .

I think it helps that while there's lots of different types of collectibles/busy work, there's none of them that are so overwhelmingly huge in number that it puts you off.

Plus I've found myself visiting locations from the MCU and geeking out. It was really cool to swing from the Sanctum Sanctorum, to Washington Square Park (Where Spider-Man meets up with Iron-Man in Infinity War) then head through the Arch where Ebony Maw flew past with Doctor Strange.

It was cool to find Alias Investigations, even if it's just a building with a sign on it. No sign of the Baxter Building yet though, so I've either missed it or it's not there, which seems like a deliberate, and sad omission.

Your controller argument is baffling. The extra features the DS4 has - gyroscope, touchpad - the game doesn't even use.

I've ended up with an extra pre-order DLC code. If anyone reading this has bought the game post-launch and would like it, pm me.

EDIT : Now gone.

Think I’m approaching the end and the story feels a bit wonky to me, the main thrust of what I’ve done so far has been pretty cartoonish, lacking in depth and accordingly not that interesting. As the side stuff has developed though it’s become far more engaging and left me wishing more focus was spent on it.

Also if they do a sequel more effort needs to be spent in having the player actually play through the most dramatic moments rather than watching them.

It's a pretty good Spider-Man story I think, far from feeling wonky, it's had a really good balance of characters and action. I think they've actually fleshed out the main villains really well.

The side stuff is decent and I'm glad its there, but you couldn't replace the main story with any of it and it still be a good Spider-Man story.
