This is superb. I love online shooters, most of this year's gaming has been CoD MW/IW and Titanfall 2, from what I've played this ticks the same boxes.

I've only played turf war so far and I'm assuming this is the stand out mode of the game. It definitely seems like there is a lot of depth, I've won a couple of games now where people have concentrated on trying to get kills and I've snuck round the side to paint the gooseberry fool of an empty part of the map.

Such a fun game. Played a few games, got to level 3, and completed the first three levels, or stages of the single player game. The big kettle opened, but I've left it for now. Need to level up and get the Dualies. I surprisingly didn't do too badly, I even topped my boards team at one point. Quite impressed with myself, especially as my weapon choice was limited compared to the other people playing, however I was on the loosing team for most of the matches. It's just so joyous.

Well this is frustrating, 4 games in a row with people on my team disconnecting at the start.

Nope, turf war is deep enough but there is a lot of skill and tactics on display in splat zones, rainmaker and tower control. The latter too get ridiculously tense and 49/51 etc is common.

Kills mean very little in this game, my KDR is terrible but I was very successful. I've never got into online shooters other than flirting with quake 3 and ut04 and bf2 that were always a level playing field before all this ranked obsession and pay to win.

Battered this today. So far on to world 2 of the single player and level 4 of multi player. Sadly I'm playing on the go and not able to play on the big screen until Sunday evening. Still it looks pretty and has the Nintendo magic which only Nintendo can deliver.

It just plays lovely and feels new and exciting. The weapons are all interesting and the movement is fluid and fun. The fact they have already started adding free dlc is excellent.

Wish my image sig would work

I'm sure there is skill in those modes but aren't they your standard shooter game types? I've never played anything like turf war.

Pretty much all Nintendo games are very accessible IMO. (You might find the aesthetic a bit weird though, it's all very Japanese.)

I was talking more for someone who doesn't play games at all. My girlfriend has enjoyed Mario Kart and I was hoping this could fun if the basic premise of the game is to paint everything rather than get kills.

My girlfriend is in a similar position -- didn't play games before she met me ( :slol: ) but now enjoys stuff like Mario Kart and is slowly making her way through Zelda. She can play both Splatoon and ARMS and have fun, though she's hilariously bad at both.

Thanks for your advice Karl but she's just gone through the motion control tutorial at the start...that was quite something.

This arrived today. Played a few online games, it's a lot of fun. Did just have a game where someone on our team disconnected and the rest of us just got hammered by the other team, were actually pinned back at the start point. Finished with 9.8% on our side :dread:

It's almost like it's the first day the game's been out and the place is full of beginners.

This really made me laugh for some reason.

I wouldn't say they're standard as painting ink lanes and painting defensively are very important. It's worth going into ranked modes, they're very interesting.

In splatzones it's not just flags or bases as you have to cover about 80% of those areas to capture them.

Rainmaker is basically capture the flag but painting and swimming in ink lanes can end a match in seconds for a skilled player and the "flag" itself is a powerful weapon.

I am loving the Ink Brush.

I hated in Splatoon 1, I never practiced with it. I've played 20 games or so with it now and I feel like I'm decent. It ROCKS on Splat Zones.

I'll be honest I only got this because a Splatoon bundle was the only way I could find a switch on stock.I struggled to get into the U version but I'm liking this a whole lot better and I don't know why when they're pretty identical?

Any games planned?

Thanks for your recommendation of the pistol last night, I liked it when I tried it out so I bought it! I'm going to use it for a while and then maybe try out the brush or slosher. :toot:

I'm not convinced of its usefulness in other modes (the Octobrush has far better stopping power) but it's certainly good on Splat Zones. Especially with run speed up, you can get to the objective before the opposing team, paint a bit and then hide ready to wave it about or let off a bomb.
