My pre-order is really winding me up. I used that promotion Amazon had on videogames a while back to get £10 off both it and Ys VIII and at the time Splatoon 2 didn't have a release date, and it said it'd update when it had a date. When it updated with a date, it was September, the same as the other game in my order Ys, despite both being listed to despatch separately. I don't want to wait until September for Splatoon 2. I don't want to waste the £7 off either game (including the Prime discount). Weirdly, Splatoon 2 isn't listed as eligible for Prime release day delivery, so I'm not sure if complaining to chat will get me anywhere. I kinda hoped it'd drop from the £49.99 price, and I'd get a little more off it too. I wish I'd taken advantage of that SimplyGames promotion on Switch pre-orders, but had assumed Amazon's price would drop further (to £44.99, leaving my pre-order at £37.99).

I will buy it digitally and download it without worrying about delivery or leaving my home.

I did buy it as a download version on the U... mainly because, as an online game, I knew it'd get quite a few updates, but also because of the hard drive aspect. I'm not as keen on downloading for the Switch due to the lack of a system transfer facility.

Downloaded the thing for the thing. I've just gone through the brief tutorial, and picked my team. Cake, obviously.

Not sure I like the motion controls though. What's the general feeling? I think I'd prefer traditional controls, but I don't want to be disadvantaged.

I got to level 44 Rank A+ on Wii U without motion controls, but they are better if you can try to get used to them, as you won't be able to out-manoeuvre the better players strafing around you and shooting medium/long range. With the extra stability of twin stick you'll occasionally best someone if they freak out.

OK, cheers. I'll give it another go. I did the tutorial in handheld mode, but I intend playing it mostly on TV, so maybe I'll get on better with motion controls with the Pro pad.

How's your mobile service? Is tethering an option, just for the evening?

Apparently you'll be able to play 9am-1pm and 11pm-3am as well with the other regions.

I've never felt frustrated with twin stick though so if one or the other feels more intuitive to you don't let that hamper your enjoyment of the game.

There's a learning curve for motion controls, but I'm still too lazy to use them. I mainly use splatershot style weapons that are a lot like other FPS though.

For one I never find myself pointing at the floor, something that happens quite often in-game.

You have to set the sensitivity to like 80%+ though, you really need a feel for the analogue stick.

I do die a lot, maybe my success is more down to strategy than just KOs, which is why this game is amazing.

Thankfully, it looks like it won't come to that :toot:

What's people's thoughts? Is this better than the first? Or pretty much the same with a few extras?

I didn't get further than the tutorial in the original despite buying it

So far this seems really slick. Might be a purchase for me once I've given the original a bit more time.

My son has it on the wii u but hardly played it. Despite that he wants it for the switch. I've only attempted it a couple of times in multiplayer with him and never did the tutorial. I found the controls all over the place and sensitive so it put me off. Maybe i should have tried the tutorial
