Splatfest starts at 3 PM today. If I'm home when it starts, I'll be playing, and I'll be on Discord.

I am aiming to jump on when the event opens, too - I've never joined a Splatfest before.

I signed up for Salty :o .

I'm tempted by this game. Is it too difficult to get in to now though if you have never played either game? It sounds like the meta is a touch overwhelming.

Not at all, the great thing about Splatoon is you can still make a difference for your team regardless of skill level as it’s all about covering ground.

It's great, kaza! I joined in with the GRcade Splat session on Wednesday and, even as a total noob, I found that it's fun to contribute to the team effort. Turf War mode is probably best for newcomers as it's easy to understand (just fire at the floor and scenery to colour it with your team's colour). You soon get into the swing of it!

There are many other modes / games and some of them take a little getting used to. In one game we had to get to and stand on a moving tower to roll it towards a "winning" point, all whilst shooting at the enemies. At first I wasn't sure what to do but, after a game or two, you learn by seeing what the other players are doing.

It's just fun to play and - in my experience - way easier to get into than most online shooters.

Sounds promising. I'm not a big shooter fan, but this is different enough to catch my interest.

I'm just jumping in for my first-ever Splatfest! Oh, man, Inkopolis Square has had a cool make-over and looks neat! It's off the hook!

I'm in GRcade discord while playing Splatfest and Pedz will be joining soon, you and anyone else playing are welcome to join sir :toot:

Obviously can't play together unless by accident but would still add a bit of voice chat fun to the proceedings.

Wahey! Must be the old consoles talk that motivated success :toot:

I really want to get better at this, any tips on weapons and gear for me? Or turf war in general.

We should migrate GRcade to Flarum. :toot:

For turf, a weapon like the Splattershot or Aerospray, with high fire rate and coverage are good, and then ink saver/ink recovery/ink resistance are useful attributes to have on your gear. The Splattershot has burst bombs sub and Splashdown special which is a good mix for turf. Something not everyone knows is you can use your splashdown while super jumping, so this is a useful way of making an entrance in a packed area.

Don't focus on turfing your spawn at the start. Games tend to be won in the middle, so head there straight away. You can pick off parts around your spawn when you die and are heading back to the middle. This has the advantage of refilling your spawn too. Also, always try to read the map before super jumping to someone and make sure you aren't jumping into danger. Looking at patterns of where enemy ink is appearing on the map lets you know where they are. If someone kills you and you don't kill them, use the Ouch command to alert any teammates nearby to danger.

Spot-on, Tomous! I learnt that lesson during the Splatfest; several times I jumped into a danger area and I just got instantly splatted as I arrived.

Can you only do the map-jump to other players on your team? Perhaps it was me but, when I was choosing somewhere to jump to, sometimes it accepted it and other times it didn't.

You may already know this, but update 3.0 is due to arrive this month!

> New Rank X for the super-top players to try and attain
> Stages update! Splatoon favourites Piranha Pit and Camp Triggerfish return alongside an all-new stage – Wahoo World
> Over 100 pieces of gear will be added to the game

In the future, new stages and weapons will be added in a big batch on a monthly basis.
