Eh? The guy seems all right to me, and makes a fair point. The attitude I take to that whole levelling up/achievement/trophy/pat-on-the-back thing is that no matter how hard I try to get good at that stuff, someone out there is always going to be ten times better
Cynical, but ehh. Plus, it feels like every achievement/trophy list just has stuff I cannae be bothered to do otherwise, and wouldn't change that stance just to get a virtual thingy.
On the other hand though, it can all be pretty easily ignored, and even if I'm not that into it, it's still fun to see "level up!" or something similar pop up every once in a while. Still, it's hard not to feel the importance of that stuff is a tad exaggerated, certainly shouldn't overshadow the gameplay.
Actually, it reminded me of when I played Mario Kart Wii online with someone while talking to them on MSN. Truth be told, the guy was a bit of a misery, but when his ranking score didn't improve after half an hour's play or so, he called it "wasted time"...as if ranking up was the only reasont o play. Never mind the just-for-fun aspect or anything!
