Definitely felt like a refinement of TVT in some ways with the shorter format and points/ring toss tickets to incentivise voting consistently. I suspect that there is a rival game format to AYA around somewhere between these two games but I think both have maybe stumbled a little by making it suboptimal to stand out from the crowd by making plays as then you immediately get revealed and pounced on, which does sort of encourage going with the majority and keeping your thoughts to yourself. I had a lot of fun though, felt like a very Sprouty game where spreadsheets were essential and I enjoyed piecing together people's VIP numbers, even if I did have Pedz and Dan completely mixed up!

I certainly didn't intend to base this around a previous format, but inevitably, it would have similarities with games gone by and it's flattering to be compared to Tribe V Tribe. My goal was to change the format as much as possible, through adding roles and rules that I hadn't seen before, plus the random elements such as prizes, which I expected to have mixed reactions, but I can see that there are similarities.

I really enjoyed this game. I didn't quite grasp the ruleset upon first read, but I was glad it was a real break from the usual. I hadn't twigged how crucial it would be to vote every phase, until the end of the first day - but I'd voted both times by then so was relatively "safe". I was also glad it finished when it did - I'd have been dead meat at the weekend!

I don't know if it was intentional, but I'd argue inactivity was more dangerous in this game than in any other, because not being involved in the right way(s) at the right time(s) was extremely punitive! I think a few people found that out the hard way, by which point there was no real way back.

It led to there being a group of players who were tough to identify. I was relatively lucky in that I was always among that number but never at the top of it (points-wise), so never became anyone's primary target. (Props to Jenuall for being a good sport when I turned the thread against him partially on the basis of a kill he didn't commit!)

Also unsure if intentional: I liked how Sprouty blended elements (not necessarily direct mechanics, but their equivalents / similar outcomes and themes) from multiple other games to create something new, whilst also adding lots of new stuff, and putting a very definitive theme on it (a psycho "fun"house more likely to injure than entertain). The way we all started referring to the VIPs as if they weren't us, made me wonder if there is a way we can use both alt accounts and normal accounts for a game in the future (you play the "main" game as your alt, but if another "real" forumite correctly matches your identity in an adjacent thread, you're out).

Big thanks to:
- Sprouty, for running what must have been an incredibly tough game to keep track of.
- Drumstick, for being my secret ally :o throughout. It was great fun piecing the bits together with you (no context). I know you tried to remove the incriminating evidence from our shared tracker but I still spotted you - and it became clear you'd always get ahead of me in the points. But, for a while, the dream of a draw was alive (I think because you kept forgetting to use your ability  )
- Tsunade, for being an excellent person
- Nun, for sharing the win!
- DarkRula and Quacky for theorising with me and sharing intel
- Jen for being generally decent about me having him killed when he was in the lead
- Preezy and Ob Bob for giving me the opportunity to reignite the final meditation chat from TvT and play I Am The Resurrection(ist)

Sprouty, I presume the invite I sent to Ob Bob negated Aaron's revive? I thought they were separate mechanics?
Also, the day (IIRC) four players should have earned 5pts but only three did - what happened there? (In fact we'll need a full breakdown of what happened and the true mechanics of it all :capnscotty: Asking for a raccoon friend :shifty: )

The players I "recruited", in order (I think):
- site23
- OB
- Moggy
- Beaky The Duck. :datass:
- Mockmaster

PatSharpsMullet was next.

Thanks for hosting Sprouty!

I shot Ob Bob and just lied about it to create drama and confusion after my exit. I had a revive which I did genuinely also use on him so didn't feel too bad.

A shame I got got by the time difference, really liked my ability to write numbers on the blank bullet. Had my shot of Ob Bob missed you'd all have been going after VIP 11 with their loaded pistol the next day.

Also I feel I must point out that, weirdly, on Wednesday I went for a Nandos. And since then it seems like everyone has been calling me Hernandos. Even though none of you knew

Some really interesting roles there, will have a proper read later as this has been a fun change of pace game-wise

I feel like the worst thing that happened for me in this game was winning that bloody loaded gun at the start!

If it weren't for that I reckon I could have avoided attention long enough for my hijacking of the daily vote to earn me a comfortable lead.

100%! I don't like that people can typically win these games by sitting under the radar. I designed this to reward those who were active & paying attention and punish those who were not. It was also to encourage use of the more dangerous roles. Hook A Duck had an 8% chance of pumping out a Ghost Train ticket. I did considering offering VIPs to tweak the prizes on offer and increase this (whilst also increasing the rewards for Ring Toss), but it became apparent that the game would run for considerably less time than I had planned, so I abandoned this idea.

No, Aaron's revive was crucial as Ob Bob wouldn't have been able to re enter the Funhouse if he was still dead.

If you're referring to Aaron's score on Day 2 - that was a tricky one. He gained points for the revive, but lost the same number due to other players actions. I remember that his ability was blocked by Spoil Sport, meaning that his shot as Flawed Assassin wasn't activated & I am sure something else happened too, but I can't quite remember what. This is why I placed a zero in his 'other' points category. I debated how to display that, but felt that if minus points would have been listed, and plus points would be listed, I had to list 0 in that category for balance.

Quacky would also just like to add, that in light of Quacky's recent death and subsequent resurrection, Quacky is now the messiah.

It's time for the...

Technical Bit

In case anyone wants to see the full daily tracker which I was using. I had other tabs in the workbook, but this was my primary one, which used formulas to calculate 300 elements of the daily outcomes and manual input on others.

Lastly a table showing the formulas used on the workbook

Image

The formulas shown were replicated for each player, mostly consistently, but with some tweaks for certain roles (the twins for example). I started building this on Day Zero & I should have given myself more time, but I underestimated how long it would take as I haven't used Excel to randomise results of a carnival game before!

I'm sure that games could be run without large trackers, it all comes down to the design. The more complex it's designed, the more there is to track. I physically couldn't have run this without them, but I work with data, so being comfortable with this element allowed me some freedom in the game design.

If you had an idea for a game, I'd be more than happy to help you designing some trackers to make it easier to host. The only downside for me would be that it would make it unlikely I could sign up and play!

I think what you've described is a new style TCRT.
