:fp: I'm done.

Was gonna say, lots of people still play 20 year old games

I'm sure they do. Whether they'll be playing a remaster of an already 20 year old game in 20 years I have some doubt. Besides, as long as you already downloaded the content you can play for as long as your hard drive survives.

There is a theoretical chance that someone in the distant future finds a disc copy of this game, dusts of the old consoles and is disappointed that the patch is no longer available. But I don't think it will be a particularly regular occurrence.

And that's assuming the disk still works.

The immensely sympathetic official statement on the lack of subtitles:

When Toys For Bob set out to make an awesome game collection, there were certain decisions that needed to be made throughout the process. The team remained committed to keep the integrity and legacy of Spyro that fans remembered intact. The game was built from the ground up using a new engine for the team (Unreal 4), and was localized in languages that had not previously been attempted by the studio. While there’s no industry standard for subtitles, the studio and Activision care about the fans’ experience especially with respect to accessibility for people with different abilities, and will evaluate going forward.

Considering the big hoo-ha surrounding the Spyro remake in regards to how 2/3 of the game is download only it's topped the physical sales charts.

Well you do get at least 1 full game on disc which is more than most games on the shelves

As expected, PS4Pro/XB1 > PS4 >> XB1S

I have almost finished the first one now. Need to clear up a few of the earlier worlds and do a few of those timed levels in one run :x I think I'm missing a level on two worlds as I've only done 5 on those, compared to 6 levels on the other worlds. It was really tight hitting the 60 dragon requirement for balloon guy to take me to the final world.

What I'm getting from that is that the original still looks good!

For sure. The original game was a technical achievement.

Aye, still holds up well. I also fired up the originals on the Vita so I could see them side by side.

It's a superb remaster though, looks gorgeous and plays incredibly well. I adore it. Still think 2 and 3, in terms of design, are a huge step up from the original, but I can't think of a trilogy I'd take over this.*

* Just thought maybe the Donkey Kong Country trilogy using Tropical Freeze graphics :datass:

This is activision, so i expect it'll be £10 dlc.

Per game.

Review of the trilogy from a speed runners perspective. Brings up a few issues that I think a few people on here will notice like gems being easier to miss.

Just last night I spent ages looking for a single red gem that was amongst blades of grass. Thank god for Sparx.

I Just need to find a 2 levels and 100% a few more and I can move on to Spyro 2. Not sure I've actually ever played the second, I think I just replayed the PlayStation magazine demo disc over and over

I actually started doing playthroughs of the trilogy last year. 100%ed 1 and 2, but stopped 3 mid-way through. I'll probably 100% 3, then end up getting the remaster and comparing them.

Got 120% on the first Spyro last night. Such a good game

It's crazy what your brain fills in. For example the elder dragons I remembered being all different and having unique characteristics, they actually only amounted to slightly different coloured dragons

Also I found out that I'm stupid (not news to many) and you can actually fast travel and load a previously visited level from the guidebook in the pause menu :fp: I found that out on my last level that needed 100%ing... I had been been finding balloon guy, travelling to the world, loading, running through the world looking for the level's portal, loading, and then playing  Just in case anyone else didn't know you could do that and some the leg work and loading time.

I want to play this game so bad but I'm not giving Activision any money for lack of subtitles, seriously, strawberry float them.

Yes the originals lacked subtitles but they can add them in this one yet they didn't...

I can wait till it's cheap. In CeX. If they add in subtitles by then then okay yeah I'll buy it new but until then it's preowned buy from me

Got this for Christmas.

I’ve never played the the originals though so I’ve been played for less an hour and it’s great!

Very colourful and easy to play too. :D

Yeah, it's great, undemanding fun. Ideal when you need a change of pace from playing something intense.
