So what's the early impressions here? Should I invest in this for some GR carnage or is there a suspicion that it "ain't got legs"? ACG review was certainly glowing....

No sign of my copy yet annoyingly.
Amazon has it listed as both "Dispatching Soon" and "Arriving Today", and to the best of my knowledge the Prime Now service doesn't operate in my area. Will see if it turns up later tonight and if not will get onto Amazon live chat in the morning.

Argos have this listed for 33.99 at the mo on PS4 which is the cheapest i've seen it. Got a £5 off voucher too so was gonna pick it up but nowhere seems to have stock. Local store says collect in 3 days but checked every store and noone has it in so dunno if its in short supply. Gonna keep an eye on it, will prob jump in once they have it in.

I played it last night. There's a rather long-winded tutorial that you do solo, and then you can either play a Solo Adventure (don't) or go online in Quick or Private Matches. I played the opening mission with some randoms. It was strawberry floating brilliant. The game itself doesn't seem like the second coming, particularly (yet), but the feeling of being on a starship is there and the interactions between the crew are awesome, assuming you get some nice folk like I did. We were a superbly inept crew, it was funny as strawberry float.

Please, please, please don't play this solo. It's MEANT to be played with other people.

My copy should be arriving today. Any chance of a GR crew on the next few nights?

Argos now showing it as collect from 4pm today so just ordered it, £28.99 after the fiver off voucher so can't grumble. Just need to find the move controllers and charger cables now. Can't wait, Eurogamer's let's play videos really got me hyped for this, looked hilarious.

If you want brand new then the cheapest place for the Move Controller twin pack seems to be Amazon at £56.62

CeX are selling second hand ones at £18 a piece though. And you can use the PS3 move controllers as well, they're exactly the same as the PS4 ones except Start and Select are labelled Options and Share. I've got a pair of PS3 ones and they work fine with my PSVR games.

I'm available but don't finish work until 9 so won't be able to hop on until maybe 9.45 so if that's a bit late I can join you at the weekend.

Sorry bad wording on my part. I've got the PS3 move controllers still but not used them in a while as only VR game I've played is Far point recently. My missus has a habit of "tidying" which normally equates to shoving them in a cupboard or drawer somewhere in the house.. heard this is more accurate with a normal controller but think it'd be a lot more fun with the move.

Move controllers seem like they'd be half the fun with this game. I can't imagine playing with a normal controller based on the vids I've seen.

Yeah. The controls for the original enterprise look interesting just lots of coloured analog buttons and switches. Can see that leading to a lot of accidental torpedo fire and the like..

This video of some of the eurogamer guys and pals playing it is hilarious (sorry if already been shared not checked back). Contains slight spoilers for the opening mission..

Late sessions (10.30 pm) actually suit me if this is a window that others are considering..... I haven't picked it up yet but am very tempted.

In case people aren't aware: this has cross platform multiplayer across PSVR, Rift and Vive.

Had no idea it was cross platform, but that's utterly fantastic news and a great move on the part of the devs.

I can probably play even late at night, just need to know a little in advance is all.

How does Friday or Saturday night sound to people?

Just played the Tutorial.

Oh man, this is going to be utterly incredible with a crew from here

I think Helm is the only station I didn't particularly like, whilst Engineering and Tactical were definitely my favourites. Captain is less about having things to do and more about being a decision maker and hub for communications I think, so pretty much like in the show.

We have absolutely got to play this one night at the weekend guys. I'm working during the day Saturday and Sunday but should be free anytime after 8pm both nights. Can also do anytime from 8pm on Friday night.

We're out Saturday night but might be able to get on Friday or Sunday night, will confirm for deffo nearer time - the missus is trying to finish Persona so hogging the PS4 a lot at the mo (I foolishly thought getting her into games other than Pokémon would be a good thing :fp:).

Played the tutorial, only as captain though but really liked it. Works really well and looks amazing. If it stays as fun as it seems so far I think this will easily be my favourite VR game so far. Feels like a pretty decent deep game rather than the more limited "experiences" a lot of other VR games offer so far.

On the last battle I managed to take out a few Klingons but my hull was about knackered so I managed to warp out and save my ship but failed rescuing anyone :slol:

Glad this turned out decent though, after all the delays I was worried it was going to turn out terrible and be a massive disappointment. Hope they add more stuff to it over time, some additional ships from the TV show would be cool. Maybe the TNG Enterprise or Voyager. A VR tour of deep space nine might be good too or the ability to park up and explore your ship - hop in the turbo lift and go to engineering or go in the holodeck for a mess around.

Had some great games with Laga and a couple of really nice randoms.
I stuck with engineering as it's the only crew station I know about but I can see this being amazing with a full crew of GRCaders :D .

Me and Peter Crisp just had a couple of games with a few randoms, was a total blast. We did two missions and the Kobayashi Maru! We saved a few people then used the freighter as a distraction while we got the strawberry float out of there :slol:
The two guys we were with had played the missions a few times already so they knew what to expect, which I thought kinda lessened things a little. I think a lot of the fun is going to be in reacting to unexpected things happening. For that reason I hope there are also new missions added, and it'd be nice if the existing missions had some randomisation going on I think.

The game is definitely off to a strong start though, and I think a good GR crew will be a lot of fun.

Also, shame on you Eighty for ignoring our invites! :x

I think we all want to see a video of a GR crew playing this. Make it so.
