https://www.destructoid.com/star-trek-bridge-crew-no-longer-requires-vr-478933.phtml

So this has been patched so that it no longer requires VR to play. Should see the userbase increase a bit, which hopefully will lead to more content coming.

Must still need voice communication though.
The game seems unworkable without that.

Yeah I can't see how it would work without voice.

Should add this is currently £15.99 on PSN's January Sale. Might be worth picking up at that price if anyone doesn't already have it.

Apparently the same update adds support for Microsoft mixed reality headsets as well.

Despite not having a ton of content this game is super fun with a full crew.

*BUMP*

IT LIVES!

We're getting a (paid)TNG expansion!

https://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2018 ... -expansion

Galaxy Class starship! Borg! Romulans! New Ongoing mission types! New Bridge Station! £11.99!

Might be too little, too late, but when it was populated Bridge Crew was an absolute delight.

I'll probably pick this up.

EDIT: Operations Commander replaces Engineer on the new Bridge. Focuses on crew management aspect.
EDIT EDIT: May 22nd PS4, July 21st PC

I'm 100% in for this so if you need extra crew give me a call and I hope I can get Chalky in as well.

Definitely need to get a crew together again. Just a shame the PC version comes two months later (For some reason).

Resistance mode sounds awesome. Being chased about the Galaxy by the Borg while you try and put together some anti-Borg weapon.

Patrol mode lets players free roam around space, working toward different objectives and battling in random encounters, while Resistance Mode pits crews against classic Star Trek villain the Borg. Writing on the official PlayStation Blog, designer Hunter Janes explains, "We wanted to create something that did justice to the Borg by conveying the sense of cosmic, existential dread [they bring]. In short, I wanted to scare people."

Resistance mode was, says Janes, "heavily inspired by classic rogue and roguelike games, which I think do a great job of driving tension." The end result sounds a little like FTL, with crews forced to hop from solar system to solar system, completing challenges in order to retrieve scattered anti-Borg prototypes. All the while, a Borg Cube is on their tail, drawing closer.

Each prototype "will provide you with a new tool for fighting the Borg," explains Janes, "but each time you face the Cube, it's adapted to your tactics and becomes ever more powerful."

EDIT: Oh and teases that there may be more expansions coming.

It's bizarre because they were silent for so long on this game that I think most people (Myself included) thought that they had walked away from it.

I'm definitely buying that.

It's time to get the crew back together for another jaunt across the galaxy. Odd that the PC version is delayed considering that there's cross play.

I thought that was odd as well.

The fact that the game is now playable without the VR should help with the userbase though.

Might be worth changing the thread title to reflect it too as there'll be people skipping past the game because of it.

I now have this and the Next Gen dlc so it's time to make it so and rebuild the Bridge Crew team.

I can't get on tonight I'm afraid. Might be able to make it tomorrow or Friday night though.
Still plan on playing with the VR headset. I know it can be played without but I think the game lacks some of what makes it special that way.

What time tomorrow we thinking?

Really hope this DLC sells well. If it does then there's an increased chance of getting some additional DS9/Voyager/Enterprise/Discovery DLC as well I'd bet.
I could see a DS9 Defiant themed DLC with some kind of Dominion War mode being really good.

Had a brief look at the TNG stuff ready for tonight so that I wasn't totally lost. Man, the stations really are different.
The need for Engineering to prepare the Warp engines seems to be gone completely on flight control, which makes sense since you now have Operations which seems to be all about crew management rather than power management (Though not sure how you're supposed to be able to divert power to shields/weapons/etc when needed), the Captain now has a PADD to do everything except answer a hail and call red alert. Tactical seems to be mostly unchanged I think.

I'm still going to be totally lost tonight :slol:
