How hard is it to make a game equal to the original games? I mean really :fp:

I'm out

Well I watched the video for the first few minutes until it mentioned you can't jump in/out of a vehicle whenever you like. Bizarre gameplay decision. I couldn't think of anything worse than being stuck in a certain vehicle.

That would also mean there's no ground to space battles I am guessing too seeing as you can't jump out of a ship once you've boarded a capital ship.

Have to agree, the token spawning weapons are my biggest peeve in this game.

Terrible decision.

Did you watch the video? I am fairly certain they say that token spawns are gone

Apologies, I was referring to the original.

It'd be great if, when the game starts, there's a couple of X-wings dotted around the initial spawning point and players can either choose to hop in them or go out on foot.

Halo did a good job of vehicle management in multiplayer.

Pretty sure at around 2:08 in the video on this page the guy says that some weapon pickups will remain.

Yup pretty much after mentioning that Hero pickups were gone they mention you have to pick what vehicle/on foot etc you're going to be when spawning and then you're stuck in that until you die/suicide.

It's like a halfway house between the last game and the superior originals.

Maybe they'll get it right for Battlefront III in 2019.

The Smart Rocket and a few undisclosed things will remain as token pickups, but it looks like most of them will be going.

Either they've completely ignored what was great about the originals, as regards to vehicle play, or they think they've got some amazing things going on in their new vehicles that'll keep people wanting more.

Wouldn't hurt to have an emergency escape button like this last Battlefront had though, and I can't see what would prevent them from allowing players to jump into a starfighter on a capital ship to join the fray out in space.

I think they just don't have a good enough idea of how to make the vehicles land/take off without spawning you in/out of them.

That and the fact it's 20 v 20 at most means too many in the air means not enough on the ground so this allows them to control the max number of fighters in the sky at once.

Without tokens, I guess they needed some other way to control fighter numbers.

They could just limit the number of vehicles that spawn in.

In the video they say that there just isn't any need for it the way they've designed the game, but that basically sounds like a cop-out.

I'd guess the real reason is that for some reason it doesn't work with how they are using the engine on current gen consoles.

How does Battlefield 1 work for this sort of thing? I assume the handling of classes and vehicles will be similar to that title.

Those voices. :dread:

Anyway, apparently Battlefront II is to launch with 3x the content of its predecessor, but whether that's as Battlefront is now or as it was at the start of its life cycle isn't known. DLC releases could be linked to movie and TV show releases, and anniversaries (May 4th etc).

Kylo Ren's starfighter looks... interesting - like an elongated TIE/In. I think they should've gone for a different look myself, an evolution of the TIE Advanced X1 design would've been ideal, but this could still be that, so little do we yet know.

I hope they include the Droid Invasion music from Phantom Menace. When it gets going, it's right up there with the Imperial March and Dual of the Fates for me.
