The game's website gives a rundown of the basic premise of some of the launch game's battles, presumably for the Galactic Assault game mode. They don't tell us much regarding objectives, but they tell us more than we knew before. Also, I'm assuming that this list is incomplete, because we saw Ryloth and the Unknown Regions listed in that trailer that aren't up on the website (yet?). Although, if they are Starfighter Assault-exclusive, that might explain the absence.

Prequel maps:
CLONING FACILITY
KAMINO
The waves of Kamino crash beneath the slender platforms of the cloning facility as armies of battle droids descend on the artificial island.

THEED CITY
NABOO
A three stage assault on the capital of Naboo. Squads of droids protect a colossal MTT as it lumbers its way toward the royal palace.

KACHIRO BEACH
KASHYYYK
As the droid army storms up a beach, Wookiee Warriors and Clone troopers dig in to defend a grounded cruiser.

The Separatists on all three maps will, it seems, be the default attacking force, while the Republic Clones will be defending on all three worlds. A few Republic assault maps in the DLC would be great.

Original trilogy maps:
TATOOINE
MOS EISLEY
Imperial stormtroopers rush from shuttles into the crowded streets of Mos Eisley.

YAVIN 4: THE GREAT TEMPLE
YAVIN 4
Deep within the Great Temple on Yavin 4 is a secret of key importance to the survival of the Rebellion. But Imperial ground forces have arrived!

OUTPOST DELTA
HOTH
Plodding AT-AT walkers advance toward the Rebel position under air cover as Rebel defenders and their screen of T-47s try to hold the position.

RESEARCH STATION
ENDOR
Rebel forces steal an AT-AT walker and use it to demolish an Imperial base.

COMMAND CENTER NORTH
DEATH STAR II
As the Battle of Endor rages all around it, an Alliance corvette crashes straight into the Death Star. The surviving Rebels must fight their way out!

Looks like the Empire has three maps wherein it is the attacking force, and two where they must defend their positions. Not so bad.

Sequel maps:
STARSHIP GRAVEYARD
JAKKU
First Order forces have trapped a group of Resistance fighters within the derelict hull of a crashed Star Destroyer in the desert of Jakku.

MAZ'S CASTLE
TAKODANA
On Takodana, the First Order moves against Maz Kanata's castle. Resistance forces have taken up a defensive position inside.

PRECINCT 47
STARKILLER BASE
As the fighter attack rages above Starkiller Base, a cadre of Resistance warriors make a daring raid to rescue prisoners trapped inside the First Order facility.

Looks like two maps where the First Order is on the offense, to the Resistance's one assault.

So many worlds not yet included, so much DLC to come. God only knows how many GB they'll all take up.

Only guessing, but the Hoth, Endor and Jakku descriptions listed above sound very similar to what was in the original game.

The pay to win stuff has really put me off this.

We should migrate GRcade to Flarum. :toot:

Hoth is supposedly identical to the stage we played in BF2015, except with added Tauntaun mounts for the Rebellion. Each world's Galactic Assault objectives will vary, which I like the sound of.

Other old maps will probably return via DLC, but many will see changes in order to differentiate them from one another, and their original versions. Surprised there isn't a Bespin map at launch, TBH, but I'm sure it'll happen eventually.

At least the DLC is all free. :simper:

Eurogamer wrote:Earlier this week, Star Wars Battlefront 2 gameplay footage surfaced online that showed the sci-fi shooter's loot box system.

Unlike its predecessor, Battlefront 2 has randomised crates of Star Cards that offer gameplay-affecting power-ups.

These can give you more health, power up weapons, boost damage or grant other special abilities - such as a healing effect for nearby allies.

Though the feature wasn't working when the revelations came to light, duplicate Star Cards will be automatically converted into "crafting parts" which you can then put towards a particular card or to upgrading a card you have already.

You can get the currency used for buying crates by just playing the game, but the possibility of buying unlimited loot boxes using real-world cash sparked concern among fans.

EA has now confirmed to Eurogamer that yes, you can buy more of these crates using real-world money.

It really has killed all interest in this for me. I also don't like how the BF1 dlc packs make you grind to unlock weapons. I don't have the free time to do that any more.

I wish I enjoyed Overwatch more, because I like how you get everything at the start of that game, and the only unlocks are cosmetics.

I'm still getting it for sure, pay to win doesn't affect it having a full singleplayer campaign and split-screen multiplayer!

If you're getting it mainly for the singleplayer and want to stiff EA then wait a bit and get it second hand; it'll be fractionally cheaper and EA won't get a penny.

Yeh between the pay to win stuff and the initial game being barebones yet again (so they can give away "free" DLC) I'm gonna pass on this one too.

Maybe BFIII in 2019 will finally match up to those original games :fp:

Is it barebones though? Isn't it like 12+ maps?

Plus the SP and all that.

Yeh about 12, of which each one will have a number of variations so they can claim it has lots of content again.

The likelihood is that there will be two or three different maps per world, for different game modes. Blast and Hero Battle modes will likely share the same maps, but they'll be quite different to the Galactic Assault and Starfighter Assault maps.

I'd rather have multiple maps per world than one.
