Yeah, we found out about that just after the Beta. Ridiculous. Can't be having people earning their way to the top by enjoying the loot box-free Arcade mode, can we?

Got the game in the post a few minutes ago (Amazon delivered on an actual launch day  ), got an 8GB update to squeeze onto my PS4. Good thing I upgraded the hard drive.

The backlash is genuinely heart warming. I imagine the PR Guys at WB are watching it in a post shadow of war world and saying "see I told you it could have been worse"

Wish my image sig would work

Today I’m having to relearn the alphabet as I always thought F U appeared after E A.

Is the game fun to play? The last one was meant to be pretty good although lacking in content right?

Amusement under late capitalism is the prolongation of work.

I'm having fun. :)

Strafing ground units in my X-Wing on Takodana was surprisingly successful a strategy. Not many other players taking to the air though, sadly, but there are A.I. chaps flying about.

It's a shame really, as I would like to buy this - for me, in recent years, a Star Wars movie has meant coming back to the UK for Christmas, so this game would have been a good way of getting hyped for that.

And the original game, while lacking in content at the start, was expanded with DLC, which is going to be free this time around.

I don't normally buy games on release but would have been tempted to, to capitalise on that hype. But I'm not going to pay £50 for a game that isn't complete in content without an arbitrary, enforced grind designed to push players towards in-game transactions.

Can't even bloody play most of the original game either as it's dead. Aren't EA turning the servers off too?

The original was pretty active all this year up to now, but EA will likely announce the old game's server closure soon, I have no doubt of that.

Had a pretty intense battle on Starkiller Base just now. I played a Resistance officer throughout, except for when I tried my hand as Rey briefly (and unsuccessfully). We got so close to winning, but ran out of people. Great battle though, very intense, lots of kills all round. :) Very satisfying stuff.

Edit: Just tried my hand at Starfighter Assault - it's every bit as fun as the Beta. I did hear Han Solo, upon entering the battlefield in the Falcon, say "This is where the fun begins" though. :dread:

Alvin's posts read like someone is holding him hostage.

We should migrate GRcade to Flarum. :toot:

Somebody worked out how long it would take to get all of the power up cards and assuming you don't get any doubles it's about 1,600 gameplay hours. That's a lot of game you're getting for your money.

Dear GRcade,

As I write this post, I am very sad. Our Star Wars single player video game has been cancelled... AND REPLACED BY THE PLAYER CHOICE FILLED STAR WARS BATTLEFRONT 2. ALL HAIL EA AND THEIR GLORIOUS NEW GAMES!

Sincerely,

God forbid anyone deciding for themselves and not being told to not buy something and then actually enjoying it.

What I played of the early access trial I enjoyed and will be getting it myself.

It's a good video game, if a little hollow.

Someone else has calculated that unlocking everything would take 4,528 hours of gameplay, or $2,100 of Microtransactions

Dear GRcade,

Having a wonderful time playing EA's new STAR WARS: BATTLEFRONT II™.
Every game is super intense and fun, the graphics are often lovely, and the community is there.
Loving all the space combat and ground play, haven't tried the Blast or Hero modes yet but I probably will soon.
Please give this game a chance when it falls to a suitable price point.

Move over silly old Battlefront II, there's a new, er, Battlefront, in town!
Everything is fine, do not worry.

Sincerely,

Forums Poster

I doubt I'll get anywhere near that. Even the most obsessive BF2015 fans I've seen out there seldom broke 1,000 hours on that game (I hit somewhere in the region of 250), so I don't expect many people to Platinum this one. Or any.
